Got this and the Komodo for my 8 year old's birthday. He love's them (got 2 so he could share with his friends). Play time on the battery is around half an hour so getting extra battery packs is highly advisable. The Devil Ray has more range than the Komodo, so I would advise getting 2 of the Devil Ray as opposed to one of each.
Performance -
Great on relatively flat services - fast enough for a little guy. Thick grass will slow it down or even stall it. Anything thicker, forget about it. It works in the water as advertised(floats and moves around), which is cool, but make no mistake, this is no RC boat - it is slow at best, and the novelty wears off quickly.
Very durable, but transponding wire casing (plastic tube)snaps easily - does not affect function and is a relatively easy fix.
Overall, it's a great toy for a little guy.

I liked the design of this truck and other Kid Galaxy RC toys appeared to have good ratings on Amazon. This vehicle worked once for us and quit. Unfortunate, because my son really enjoyed it for the short time.

I ordered this in mid-November as a Christmas gift. It arrived mid-December. We charged the battery for 24 hours and tried it out. The range was awful - it would literally stop working if you turned away when standing right beside the toy. I called the seller for a replacement they referred me to the manufacturer who informed me that this item has been discontinued. Now I am returning the toy and am stuck with paying for shipping & handling twice. Also, the seller has only agreed to refund the purchase amount if they can verify that the problem exists. Never mind that we are sending it back within the 30 day warranty period. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT purchase from this company. What a headache!!!

This toy was fun for the first half hour while it worked correctly. Unfortunately, things began to go wrong at that point:

1. The range of the receiver and/or transmitter dropped from 40 feet to about 3 feet (3 feet being approximately the length of the controller antenna that had to be held within 6 inches of the car antenna)
2. Controls became random and erratic, with the car not necessarily following the remote control.
3. Forward motion on one side stopped altogether and only went in a circle unless reversing.
4. Battery life dropped from about 20 minutes after the 1st charge to about 5 minutes after the 3rd charge.

I tried recharging the car's battery, replacing the controller battery, staring at it thoughtfully and finally all-out shouting at it, but none had an effect (well, the shouting did, but only on me as I felt somewhat better afterward). The instructions were practically nonexistent and the 'Troubleshooting' section consisted of:
1. Charge battery.
2. Replace battery.
3. Put in trash bag and leave on curb***.

The packaging was a mess, and the outside portion of the box was from a different car (labeled Komodo Dragon with pictures and stick-on label saying so). All in all, this is about the most disappointing item I have bought through Amazon. Okay, it didn't work, that happens sometimes. But I don't really believe I actually got a "new" car. Certainly, it was not in its original condition in its original box.

This car was delivered on time. One but there was a problem with the radio signal. I contacted the manufacturers and they have agreed to send me a new one. Very good customer service.
The car works great when it is working, very fast yet easy to control. It does great on rough ground, just what a little boy wants.

Just an FYI for anyone thinking of purchasing this product. We recieved notice that this product and the following list is non compliant to the new CPSC regulations that Congress has written for the toy industry. We were advised to destroy this product. Most of our vendors that have products that are non compliant are asking that they be destoyed and full credit recieved. Kid Galaxy wants them destroyed and will give 25% credit on these items so we will no longer carry Kid Galaxy as they are shifting there responsibilities to the independent toy stores to eat the cost of there non compliants items. The following is the complete list of Kid Galaxy non compliant items. I will forward this to Amazon and hopefully they will take the neccessary actions to have them deleted off there sight. In good judgement are company will not sell anything that we are aware of that is harmful to your children.

I had the chance to play with my son just once and in that single chance I had to run behind the car no more than 3 feet away or the control signal disapear. the battery last 20 minutes and the next day after charging it for 5 hours it last 1 minutes and the car and battery are not working anymore. I'm dealing with the manufacturer for a refund but seems to be impossible.

It only turns one way. The battery doesn't last long. Hard to get charger back in car.

I bought this for my 6 yr old. He loved it! (my 12 year son also really enjoyed it)
It is durable just wish the battery pack would last as long as my 6 yr old! =) Great product. But, make sure you shop around - we got a great deal ($[...]) - it is priced near $[...] elsewhere!

I was worried my 6 year old son would be a little too young for this car, but we gave it to him for a birthday present. He has had the car for 3 months now and it is still his favorite toy. It drives great in anything from the bathtub to the creek, even our gravel road and is very durable. My son has dropped the remote control in water several times as well, and although it is not waterproof, a new set of batteries and an overnight dry and it was ready to go the next morning.
