Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Kid Icarus (Game Cartridge)
I bought this game in the summer of 2006 after my hopes were dashed when Nintendo failed to announce the development of a rumored Kid Icarus Wii game. Taken in the context of what it is, a game for the old pea-soup GameBoy, this game was surprisingly well done.
The game, gameplay, and graphics are very similar to the original NES game only better. First of all, you'll never fall to your death in vertically oriented stages because they can now scroll both up and down. Horizontal stages can also scroll in both directions while the NES original was locked into scrolling to the right. Pit is easier to control because he's larger in relation to the screen and now has the ability to "float" down with his tiny wings in a move similar to the Raccoon tail in Super Mario Bros. 3. If you remember the final stage of the NES version I'll just say that this game's equivalent stage is designed in the same spirit, but fits the context of the other stages much better. The final NES stage was just too far out there. This game tones it down a notch and it just seems to fit.

BUY THIS GAME!!!,

I would rate this game as one of the best games ever for the Game Boy. Only slightly different from the NES version the game still manages to fill the fun factor to the top. For those who arent familiar with Kid Icarus, it is a side scrollin action adventure game where you take control of your character PIT as an angel of some kind to rid the world of an evil curse. Along your journey you must build your arsenal of weapons, tools, and other items by defeating enemies and collecting hearts to purchase these items to help you with your quest. The game is truely one of a kind and awesome for its time. The game also has the capability to draw you into the adventure and make you determined to progressfurther into the game. I give my highest recommendation to this masterpiece

I Love This Game!,

I have lots of gameboy games but this is one of my favorites. It is a platform game (which I am particually into) and not as advanced as many of the new games. Basically you are Kid Icarus and you go through various levels. You can buy things, fight monsters and look for secrets. Its a light hearted game and very fun to play!

If you ever had frequent reoccurring dreams of flying from danger, this is the game for you. Icarus(Kid Icarus) can never truely set sail into the air but he sure tries to. Your power of flight is in the timing of the jumps and the "floating" time in the air before plummeting to your doom. This improved verson over NES(I never played NES version) is fun and the only thing that gets tired is your thumbs. I actually bought it new on release date in 1992 or something from Software Ect. After much frunstration and frequent deaths, I got the groove of the timing and shooting. It has a catchy (nintendo style) Muzak tune and great cartoon-like drawings of greek structures and characters. (monstrocities much like "Rygar") Get it for fun and put your brain in neutrol and your reflexes to tango mode!
