This was a great addition to our K'nex collection. The Kid K'nex are chunky and very difficult to break, so they are great for any age (except those who still put things in their mouths - the smallest stick is just 1-inch long). My 2 1/2-year-old is starting to put them together, while my 5-year-old builds all sorts of bugs, monsters, and vehicles. There are enough with this set to have 2-3 large things built at the same time. After that, you start to run out of some of the pieces. It comes in a sturdy box with dividers for the different pieces, and has just enough extra room to add the set we already own (Zoomin' Buddies) in with it.

I looked and looked for a break-down of the pieces in this set and never found one, so here it is. If you already have some K'nex, you should recognize the pieces based on the color, since these seem to be universal.

Kid K'Nex is a great building toy for young kids. I got it for my 5 year old and she absolutely loves it. The set with comes with easy to follow pictures for a large number of things to make, and it's easy and fun to make your own creations as well. The drawings are life sized, so younger kids can put the pieces right on the picture to make it easier to build from the diagram.

This set is intended for multiple kids to be using it one time (up to 12) in a classroom, but I think it's super for home use with a few kids and/or adults using it. My spouse and I enjoy sitting down with our daughter and all building together. After a few things have been built and set aside, we sometimes have to raid our earlier creations for parts to complete our current structures. With a smaller set, we'd be much more limited!)

ToysRUs is currently selling this set for $44.78, which is a great value. It only costs a little more than sets that have under 100 pieces!)

The storage tub that comes with the set is great for easy clean up.

My 2 yearold got a box of these for his birthday, and his 4 year old brothers dived in. The pieces can be attached easy for little fingers, and the plastic is really nice to work with (some are bendy, and some are stiff). My kids immediately created all kinds of stuff, from lightsabers to jetpacks to Power Ranger weapons, to the Autobot Matrix of Leadership. They built cars and stuff too, but the point is they really got into the creativity aspect.

I was a bit skeptical of the of this product, even with the nice reviews the price seemed a bit high. However, I am so happy we purchased this product! The pieces are safe and manageable for younger children (my kids are 3 and 4), but it still allows them to build amazing things. This K'Nex set really does inspire imagination, I am surprised that my kids really took to this product right away. I have 3 children, so this set is nice that it has enough pieces for everyone to build their own vehicle at the same time. There are some models that take a majority of one piece or the other, but overall everyone can build until their heart is content.
I love that my soon to be five year old can look at the picture and follow the directions to build some of the vehicles somewhat independently. My young ones can help identify each of the pieces needed for the design they want to build and count out the necessary number (4 blue wheels, 10 white pieces, etc.). We have even been able to teach some new words - like "customize" as one of my children learned he could made changes to the model shown when the pieces weren't available and still end up with a functional vehicle close to the model shown, with some modification (purple wheels instead of green, etc.)
I really am impressed with this product and look forward to using this set for a few years, then moving up to the traditional K'Nex when the time is right.

As a parent, you want the best kind of educational toy you can get for your hard-earned buck. I agonized over spending this much on a set I had never had any experience with, but after just a day, am SO glad I did. My five-year-old has built all kinds of great little vehicles so far. The durable, full-color, laminated sheets that come with the set depict examples of vehicles that can be built using pictures, and show actual-sized pieces, so it's easy to lay a piece down on top of the picture and build from there. The pieces are sturdy, sort of rubbery plastic feeling, and are easy to use for old and young hands, and aren't too small or too big. The smallest connectors are about 1" long. The storage case holds everything securely and nothing feels "cheap" about this set. There's a parts list on one of the laminated sheets that lists how many of each piece you have, so you can keep track of things. My little guy loves this set, and I'm already wondering what we can do to add to our collection next :) Great product!

We got this toy for my then 2 yr old so she would have something to play with while I was taking care of our newborn. It has been about 10 mths and my daughter has very much enjoyed playing with this set. She is the kind of child that would rather make her own things then follow the cards. Someday she might try to build what is on them but for right now it is just fun to see what her imagination decides to do with them. Oh and my husband has enjoyed make fun creatures as well out of the them. :)

This is a great set of Kid K'nex. I have purchased multiple sets before and this is a great addition. There are lots of wheels and so works best with other sets to have enough pieces for some of the building ideas. Great purchase and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Got this for my soon to be 9 year old. He loves it. Great gift for a child who loves building things.
