4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent novels for an entire classroom
The Kid In The Red Jacket was a very funny book for all ages to get humor out of. I want to get this book a lot now that I`ve read it. The story of Howard Jeeter and his pesky little neighbor Molly is an enchanting story. I only give this book 4 stars because I thought that the base of the story could have been better and more detailed. Overall, this book is highly...

3.0 out of 5 stars Boy on the Search

"Big Move" is what the main character of this book is going through. "The Kid in the Red Jacket," is mostly about a little boy that is moving to a brand new life. A young man named Howard learns what it is like to be the new kid. After going for a long ride he gets out the car only to find himself living next to a little annoying girl name Molly. Molly...

I only give this book 4 stars because I thought that the base of the story could have been better and more detailed. Overall, this book is highly recommended by my fifth grade class. Special thanks to my teacher for reading it and making the very humorous Molly Vera Thompson voices and many others. Also, for being such a great teacher. P.S. You really would want her. She`s great!!!!!!!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Kid in the Red Jacket, October 15, 2000

This book is a gem. My now college aged child, who still reads many, many books, enjoyed reading this book over and over again years ago. The wonderful part about this book is that Barbara Park is able to entertain an eight year old and entertain their adult parent as well. She uses so much humor in this book and both my child and I were laughing, out loud. I found that I was reading ahead in the book long after my child was in bed the first night that we had began reading it. I highly recommend this book for it's witty writing, it's life lesson to be learned, and mostly for the chance to experience a wonderful book with my child.

Do you like moving? If so you'll like this book. This book is about. The main charter 10-year-old Howard Jeeter didn't want to move with his family all the way from Arizona to Massachuettes. He didn't want to leave his freinds and neighbors, but he had to be brave and do it. Well, he meets this young six-year-old girl Molly Vera Thompson. Molly thinks of Howard Jeeter as a friend. But Howard Jeeter thinks of Molly as a young, annouing, freak! In this book there are a lot of funny parts. Howard Jeeter makes to important friends one friend matters, and his name is Pete, and another friend that is a wiseguy his name is Olley. There is a lot of adventures in this book. Barbara Park did a great writing piece. To find out more read this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Review of The Kid in the Red Jacket, April 30, 2002
A Kid's Review
The Kid in the Red Jacket
by
Barbara Park
Did you ever want to move to a new state and look for new adventures? Well, ten-year-old Howard Jeeter didn't want to. He is the main character in the book The Kid in the Red Jacket by Barbara Park.
This book is a hilarious story about Howard and his family moving from Arizona to Massachusetts. The story describes how Howard has to get used to living on Chester Pewe street. He has to make new friends and deal with the little girl across the street named Molly Vera Thompson. She is a six year old who decides to make Howard her friend because there are no other kids her age on the street. Howard gets stuck playing dolls and coloring with her. Howard is sure this will kill him.
Barbara Park did a great job writing a book that was funny. She entertains the reader. I like the book a lot because it is so funny.
I would recommend this book because it makes you laugh. Kids in third grade and up would probably enjoy this book, too.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Kid in the Red Jacket (Paperback)
The kid in the red jacket is one of the best books I've ever read. This book is about a boy who has two best friends and he has to move to another state. Howard has a girl across the street named Molly Vera Thompson who is six years old. She loves to play dolls. Of course it bugs the daylights out of Howard. Molly has a doll named Madeline and Molly thinks that she is a "watch doll." Barbara Park is a very good writer. So if your in second grade or up then this is a great book for you!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book to motivate kids to read!, September 17, 1998

This review is from: The Kid in the Red Jacket (Paperback)
This excellent book has motivated reluctant readers to read willingly. Howard moves to a new town, only to be befriended by a six year old girl who wants to be his best friend. Howard learns to accept her friendship, and teach her limits on what he will and will not do. In the classroom I have had several students read this book who are usually struggling readers. The book makes them want to read. Thank you Barbara Parks. You are helping me by making my job easier!

A Kid's Review

The Kid in The Red Jacket is a great book. It is one of the greatest books I have ever read. In the story the main character is Howard Jetter.Howard has to move from Arazoina to Massachutes leaving his two best freinds Rogger and Thornsberry behind. When he gets to his new
house he finds out that he lives on Chester Pewe street.
But he finds out something worse. He finds out that a little girl named Molly Vera Thompson lives right across the street from him. Throughout this whole book, Molly is following him and embarassing him in front of his new friends. To find out more, read this really, really good book.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Kid in the Red Jacket (Paperback)
I enjoyed this book because it really explains what a new kid goes
though.Bullies, making friends, meeting people are all the the things new kids have to do.Well my favorite character was the main
character. He has met a little girl that wants to be his friend, and
bugs him every day.She comes to his house every day to talk to him.He is embarrassed by her.The whole story he is trying to get
away from her.The ending will leave you shocked. You would have
never thought that it would have happened that way!
