Great gate, one assembly tip,

Hard to find gates to cover a large space, and this one is the best I found. I only gave it four because of a little challenging assembly. One assembly tip: when installing the wall attachments on the gate door side, I suggest waiting to drill the upper attachment into the wall (where the gate locks into the wall on the top) until the very end. Here's why: You get a paper template to tape to the wall, and then drill holes through the template and put in two plastic pieces (one on the bottom, one on top) that the gate door locks into when it closes. What I found was that even though I drilled the holes in the proper location, my gate door was not straight vertically and was a little crooked. The upper part of the gate wouldn't sit easily into the plastic attachment, you had to kind of force it in, and it was really hard to open and close the gate. I took the plastic piece off the wall, and let the gate close on the bottom. Then I drilled new holes where the upper part of the gate door wanted to be, and now it closes very easily. So don't use the template to drill the holes for the upper plastic pieces for the gate door attachment, wait to do that until the end to see where the top of the gate sits naturally. Sorry if this sounds complicated, I think you'll understand it when you're looking at the pieces.

there arent many choices for gates when it comes to irregular sized doorways but this gate is awesome. i was a little concerned that there might be a potential for squished fingers around the hinges in the gate's door but that is not the case at all. it is made very well - we love it and it keeps my daughter inside her playroom safely.

Great Gate,
This review is from: KidCo Elongate (Baby Product)
I have a two year old and the gate is holding up great so far. Installation took some effort but it was due mostly to my baseboard molding. Only issue: I wish they would have included an adjustable leg support in the middle of the gate. if the gate is open, it loses its sturdiness.

Easy, Durable, & Functional,
By

EASY: Installation was as easy as lining up the screws.
DURABLE: My son crashes cars into it, swings the door, and shakes it. No problems! It works great for our big dogs too! FUNCTIONAL: The side pieces are hard mounted, and the gates snaps into the side pieces. The bottom also unlatches and you can swing the whole gate open or lift it off all together. This is great when you want to move things thru, vacuum and clean or just open up the space. VERY HANDY! I have had my gate for over a year. I love it and would buy the same gate if I needed another one. I recommend this product!

The Gate,

I found the gate to be all that it was advertised. I have a ten-month-old grandson who stays with us about four days a week and we needed to limit his roaming area to the living room. This meant blocking off a gap of about 11 feet so finding something to do that with was a challenge.
The gate (and extensions) fit the bill perfectly. assembly was easy but, due to the angle of the wall where the gate attached (about 45 degrees) attaching it to the wall was a bit difficult, requiring fabrication of a piece of lumber to attach the gate fittings. It opens and closes easily and, until my grandson learns to lift it off its stops should do nicely. Al in all, well worth the money.

Great for wide spaces,

We use this gate with several extensions to bridge a wide entry form the living room to dining/kitchen areas. This gate works great, is easy to use once installed, and didn't take too long to get installed correctly. The directions are not the best, but once you figure them out the process is pretty simple. I would like the product better if the gate could be located away from the wall (mid-way across the span). But overall a very good product that holds up to a one year old, two dogs, and adults running into it (still getting used to having a gate) Kidco Elongate Wide Opening Gate KidCo G24 White 24" Safeway or Elongate Extension.

The gate did fit the large opening to our living room. However, it is a bit wobbly and shakes pretty wildly when our one year old hangs on it.
