These window locks do not work at all- you can easily open the window with them in place, as if there is nothing there. I installed them on standard double hung vinyl replacement windows and the wedge didn't even slow down the window opening.

Worst product I ever used. Not only does it not work at all, but it broke my window as I was testing it out. And will the company pay for my window--no. I way about 95 pounds and I could easily open the window despite it being on, AND it broke my window jam by the window sliding right over the wedge. Trust me--It will not work.

I have the white window wedges and am trying to find more. These have worked VERY well for our side-sliding windows. I use them as part of three step plan: 1) not keeping anything under the windows 2) talking about window safety and 3) using the wedges. With the goal being to slow them down to buy me time to catch them fussing with the windows! (I have had these for nearly four years and the children are now 3.5 and 5.5 -- and face a 25 drop from their roof to a paved driveway, so I worry about the windows and the kids.)

I "installed" them while the kids were in another room and I never adjust them when the kids are around (you can hear the velcro sound). The window wedges that were in the west facing windows have had the glue degrade and need to be replaced (not bad for four years...).

I do forget that the wedges are there sometimes and jam the window against it, but I haven't broken or damaged anything. For the price and semi-permanent nature of the product (not installed with screws) I find it a great part of our overall kids and window safety plan.
