From School Library Journal
Grade 4-9-This overview is presented in a simple, open format, with large-font type and full-color photographs and diagrams. A brief history of the concept of plate tectonics is presented. The text covers continental drift, the Ring of Fire, and the formation of mountains. General information is given about scientific study into the measurement and detection of volcanic eruptions and earthquakes. This book is easier than Helen Roney Sattler's Our Patchwork Planet (Lothrop, 1995).

"This series explores the concepts of the title of each volume by defining and explaining what they are and how they work. Colored photos on nearly every page make the series visually attractive while they add to the understanding of the text. Appealing illustrations and text will interest young readers with information suitable for reports. Recommended."
