Backyard Fun.,

This review is from: KidKraft Outdoor Cottage Clubhouse (Toy)
We recently bought a Kidkraft Playhouse for our 19-month-old boy. It's not the exact same model as this illustrated one, but is very close. If anything ours is a little fancier and has a green roof. In any case, they're all obviously the same basic thing reconfigured to slightly different specifications. We found ours on display at our local warehouse store and it proved to be an impulse item that my wife and I couldn't walk away from. We thought it would be perfect for the baby's summer months.
Ours now sits on one corner of our patio slab and looks rather nice. Having it on the patio saves the need for any kind of floor or foundation and it blends well with it's surroundings. Assembly was fairly easy and took about three hours. All parts were available and fit and we ended up with a small assortment of extra screws and nuts which may come in handy in the future. The house would appear to be sturdy and child resistant, but we'll provide a test for that over the next several years. Our boy loves the playhouse! he goes in, looks out the windows, plays with his toys on the floor and has a great time. About the only thing he doesn't care for is when we lock him in and use it as a playpen. Recently, he's been throwing his toys out the window and then going out to retrieve them for another throw. Children will be children. He had another friend over and they were both enjoying playing in the house. It looks to be a real fine addition to our backyard. Gary Peterson

It is cute and fun for a three-year old. I would buy it again. The instructions are almost entirely in the form of clear drawings. All of the parts are numbered, but several of the numbered labels had fallen off. If the numbers are gone from similar parts, one needs to carefully compare them with the drawings to avoid having to repeat a step, as I did twice. Other than that, which I could have avoided by being more attentive, I had no problems assembling it. It is put together almost entirely with Allen-head machine screws, and a Allen wrench is supplied. I strongly recommend that anyone planning to assemble this product buy an electric screwdriver with an Allen bit if he doesn't already have one. Even if you never use it for anything else, you will get your money's worth. It took me about six hours to assemble it using an electric screwdriver, but I'm old and slow. It has no floor. Since I planned to put it in the yard on the grass, I built a foundation of treated lumber with plywood floor on top.

Bought this at Costco for $[...] for my 2 year old. She LOVED it. Then it faded and literally fell apart. Waste of money. Maybe it's ok if you keep it INSIDE.
