5.0 out of 5 stars Backyard Fun.
We recently bought a Kidkraft Playhouse for our 19-month-old boy. It's not the exact same model as this illustrated one, but is very close. If anything ours is a little fancier and has a green roof. 1.0 out of 5 stars Great for the first month, then fell apart
Bought this at Costco for $[...] for my 2 year old. She LOVED it. Then it faded and literally fell apart. Waste of money. Maybe it's ok if you keep it INSIDE.

We recently bought a Kidkraft Playhouse for our 19-month-old boy. It's not the exact same model as this illustrated one, but is very close. If anything ours is a little fancier and has a green roof. In any case, they're all obviously the same basic thing reconfigured to slightly different specifications. We found ours on display at our local warehouse store and it proved to be an impulse item that my wife and I couldn't walk away from. We thought it would be perfect for the baby's summer months.

Ours now sits on one corner of our patio slab and looks rather nice. Having it on the patio saves the need for any kind of floor or foundation and it blends well with it's surroundings. Assembly was fairly easy and took about three hours. All parts were available and fit and we ended up with a small assortment of extra screws and nuts which may come in handy in the future. The house would appear to be sturdy and child resistant, but we'll provide a test for that over the next several years.

Our boy loves the playhouse! he goes in, looks out the windows, plays with his toys on the floor and has a great time. About the only thing he doesn't care for is when we lock him in and use it as a playpen. Recently, he's been throwing his toys out the window and then going out to retrieve them for another throw. Children will be children. He had another friend over and they were both enjoying playing in the house. It looks to be a real fine addition to our backyard.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cute and Worth the Price, June 11, 2011

It is cute and fun for a three-year old. I would buy it again. The instructions are almost entirely in the form of clear drawings. All of the parts are numbered, but several of the numbered labels had fallen off. If the numbers are gone from similar parts, one needs to carefully compare them with the drawings to avoid having to repeat a step, as I did twice. Other than that, which I could have avoided by being more attentive, I had no problems assembling it. It is put together almost entirely with Allen-head machine screws, and a Allen wrench is supplied. I strongly recommend that anyone planning to assemble this product buy an electric screwdriver with an Allen bit if he doesn't already have one. Even if you never use it for anything else, you will get your money's worth. It took me about six hours to assemble it using an electric screwdriver, but I'm old and slow. It has no floor. Since I planned to put it in the yard on the grass, I built a foundation of treated lumber with plywood floor on top.

This item was a great purchase from Amazon. The item arrived on the date scheduled to arrived, by appointment only. Assembling took six hours. Once assembled he play house seem very small for a two year old. The counter on the opposite side where the sink is located is very low. The house requires to be placed on a base to give it height. Four children can stand inside at one time. Their ages range from two to six; one child pretends to come and go to work, another pretends to be serving food, and the other two, one on each side of the windows, open and close the window shutters. They love the house but it seems small.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Value, May 23, 2008

This playhouse is by far the best bang for the buck. It is made well and quite durable. The kids love it, especially having two doors and a little porch. After a month or so the kids are still enamored with it. Cost and quality wise this is the best product I've seen for playhouses.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy, adorable, and loads of fun!, June 23, 2009

Other than taking 4 hours to put together, we love this playhouse! It is very sturdy, the quality is great and it is so adorable! It is so much nicer looking than those plastic playhouses. Our children just love it - playing house; acting out The 3 Little Pigs; and playing schoolhouse and kitchen for hours and hours.

I would highly recommend this playhouse to a friend or anyone for an indoor or outdoor playhouse (we use ours indoors in the playroom). Overall, we are very happy with this purchase!

4.0 out of 5 stars Adorable, but not as durable as I would have liked, July 12, 2011
By
= Durability:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars
It looks and functions exactly as I would have expected from the description. It is great, and our 2-year old son loves it, as do the other kids who come over. The door feels flimsly and after one month outside (in the summer - sometimes covered with a tarp in the rain, sometimes not) the front door is cracking a little. It took three non-handy people 6.5 hours to assemble this! Three people! Now they joke they could build a real house in a few days! Some of the wood parts cracked during assembly, so we used wood glue. There is no floor - so we put an outdoor rug underneath it as it is on concrete for now. It really does look much nicer than the plastic toys in our back yard.

We are so happy with this playhouse - it took a couple of hours to put it together, and it looks awesome. There's a lot of cute details - mailbox, shelves, sink... The puppet theater / lemonade stand window is a huge hit. Our kids are little so it will be good for a few years, it's probably good for kids 5 and under. One of the pieces arrived broken and the customer service agent at KidKraft couldn't have been nicer, we already got our replacement piece. For the price it's pretty unbeatable.

Santa bought this playhouse for Christmas for our almost two-year-old son and it's a big hit. Some other reviews talk about the durability of this playhouse when you put it outside - I can't really speak to that, but it holds up perfectly inside, where we keep it. No problems with the roof, door, or mailbox like I've read. It's really a nice looking playhouse, it's made of real wood, and it has enough room for both parents and a child inside (a little squished, but you'll fit). Definitely does take awhile to put together - Santa told us that it took about 7-8 hours. The window in the back is great for playing store, a puppet show, or for just trying to scare whoever's in the house (as our son likes to do when we're in the house). If you're looking for a playhouse to keep inside in a playroom, this is a great choice.
