5.0 out of 5 stars 5-star kitchen for 5-star kids

3.0 out of 5 stars Dinner is FINALLY served!
This kitchen is wonderful for the price. Our toddler loves it. However...we did not love putting it together. The main piece you start with was backwards from the written instructions..so we had to take it apart and come up with a different route. Everything is marked though and has plain, easy to read instructions. Just hope things are marked correctly!

5.0 out of 5 stars 5-star kitchen for 5-star kids, June 29, 2005
This review is from: Large Kitchen (Toy)
As my kids began to outgrow their Discover Sounds kitchen, I began scouting around new kitchens. I checked out the many plastic molded kitchens, but opted to go the wood kitchen route. Of the wood kitchens, this is far and away the nicest, best equipped, and most attractive kitchen I've found. The sink is removable and can actually be filled with water. The faucet swivels, the clock hands are movable, there are two shelves in the cabinet beneath the sink for storage, two shelves in the refrigerator (in addition to the freezer compartment on top), and a white grooved shelf in the oven that serves as the removable oven rack.

There is room for lots and lots of playfood, dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and small appliances. I love that the color scheme is suitable for both boys and girls, and much more appealing than the more institutional-looking wood kitchens.

The assembled kitchen is approximately 42" wide X 43" high X 16" deep (excluding handles and knobs). It took my husband and I over an hour to assemble, and as each additional piece gets attached, it locks the piece together very solidly.

There is room for multiple children to play simultaneously, as my children often do. It is a major piece of our playroom, and an integral part of my kids' day-to-day play.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best one out there, November 17, 2006

This is the best kitchen out there. My kids have had it for about a year now. (4 and 2, a girl and a boy) And they LOVE it. They play with it everyday. We have TONS of kitchen accesories and they all fit. The freezer is one open space, the fridge has one shelf, the stove has one shelf and the pantry has one shelf. So this doubles as your storage too. My husband put it together, no problems. And i must add...the box came very damaged (it's very heavy and i guess the ups guy wasn't happy about that). It ended up that 4 major pieces were badly damaged. I called kidkraft and they sent brand new pieces (the big sides) no questions asked!!! so to top off a great product is a great company.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Value. The quality on this is unbelievable for the price!, October 24, 2006
This review is from: Large Kitchen (Toy)
I purchased this kitchen last Christmas for my girls. When it arrived, both my husband and I were amazed at the quality. Assembly instructions(although it takes a few hours) were very clear and all of the parts and pieces were color coded and numbered. I consider this piece to be "furniture quality." To top it off, it is absolutely adorable and my girls (2 and 4) love to play with it. It is definitely the type of piece that can be passed down from generation to generation. If you are considering purchasing some of the kitchen sets from the pricier mall/catalog stores (you KNOW which ones I am talking about), consider this first.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Large Kitchen (Toy)
My 8 year old daughter wanted a play kitchen but I thought she was too big. I did some research and went to a lot of department stores looking for an age appropriate kitchen. Need I say she is also very tall. I found this large kitchen on Amazon and thought I would try it. I received it and the box was very heavy. I knew it was wooden but I did not think REAL WOOD. Well after about 2 dedicated hours getting it all together, I had just found the PERFECT kitchen for my very tall 8 year old daughter. If you are looking for a sturdy and beautiful kitchen then this is the one. I cannot say enough good things about this kitchen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for my daughters, November 25, 2006
By
This review is from: Large Kitchen (Toy)
I researched awhile before settling on this kitchen. I wanted a wooden one that wasn't too pricey, but still sturdy enough for my kids. I had owned plastic kitchens in the past and they aren't sturdy enough because they have a tendency to tip over. This one is perfect! I have 3 daughters, ages 16 months to 9 years. Since I received this I can't get them out of the playroom. They play almost constantly with it, and my 9 year old son even gets in on the action. Assembling was rather easy as all the parts are numbered with easy to understand instructions. I though it would take hours considering all the screws included, but it took me only an hour and my husband only helped on the first 4 large pieces. The only negative was that it smelled chemically after opening it and assembling. We had to crack the playroom window in order for the smell to air out of the room overnight. I suggest that you open the box after receiving and let it air out for a day or so before assembly. The smell was enough to give us a headache. But I highly recommend this kitchen for anyone looking for a middle of the road price for a wooden kitchen - and some of those wooden kitchen's can be very expensive. It is large enough for a real feel in a kitchen, but not so oversized that it consumes the whole room. The clencher came when I was shopping for food-stuffs and went to Target where I found all varieties of food (meat, veggies, fruits, can goods, boxed goods, etc.), for a dollar each. For $20 I filled the whole kitchen full of stuff. This is really a perfect kitchen for my kids.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best money ever spent!, December 28, 2006
By
This review is from: Large Kitchen (Toy)
I hesitated about spending this much money on a toy for my three-year-old daughter, even a really nice toy. But she kept insisting she wanted Santa to bring her a "stove" so she could cook (I cook a lot, and she is in the mimicking phase). So I researched kitchen sets extensively and the reviews from all over the Internet kept bringing me to this one. I could not be more pleased with this purchase, for LOTS of reasons, some of which are listed below:

1) My husband, engineer by trade and furniture craftsman by hobby, is incredibly picky and critical of nearly all pre-fabricated kits/sets when it comes to things like this. A few years ago I purchased a very expensive, professional-grade dollhouse kit for him to build for a Christmas gift, and he was woefully unimpressed and I have never forgotten his displeasure. So I was really worried about this kitchen, and so was he. About halfway through the construction of this kitchen, he looked up and said, "This is one of the best kits I've ever seen." Which is the highest possible compliment he could have given, I promise. It did take him between 2.5 and 3 hours to put it together, because there are a LOT of screws. But the upside is this seems to be a remarkably well-constructed, sturdy piece, so it's worth the effort.

2) My daughter is completely in love with this set. She opened it first (biggest present under the tree), and my husband and brother-in-law moved it into her room so that we could get to everyone else's gifts under the tree. My daughter followed the kitchen to her room, and we had to bribe her out for the rest of Christmas Day to open other presents, eat, etc! And she has repeatedly told me how much she loves her "stove." She received a set of play food and a shopping cart to go with this, and she has spent many hours "shopping" and then putting away her groceries and "cooking dinner."

Considering this set is so well-constructed and she is only 3, I think this purchase was well worth the investment for several years of quality imaginative play.

I bought the model with the refrigerator and phone for my granddaughter and it is so precious! I was expecting something screwed together and flimsy but KidKraft uses metal screw plugs (I can't remember what they are really called) to put this together and it is very sturdy and the screws won't strip out the pressed wood. (It does weigh 80#s!) The hardware that is used to put this together is all organized in a little tray so it was very easy for me to find what I needed, normally you have to spend the first hour sorting out the screws. The directions are pretty easy to follow, I only had problems figuring out how to attach the top but it only took me a few minutes to get it right. I am a woman who has my own tools so I tackled this project by myself and it took me a couple of hours, if I had had help it probably would have been completed much more quickly. (I do recommend tearing off the page with the tray items to keep handy so you aren't constantly flipping back to that page since you need the tray items on every step.) My granddaughter's eyes lit up when she saw it and she played in there for hours (she will be three in January and loves to play pretend). This is such a cute addition to her girly room and I simply love the pastel colors. I love the quality and the design. Perfect!

I purchased the kitchen for the four year old girl I was adopting. The kitchen was delivered within a few short days of my order, which was faster than the date I was given. My friends set it up while I was away. When we entered my home we took my daughter to her new playroom and she began to gasp, then laughed and jumped up and down when she saw the kitchen. She immediately ran over and began to play with it. She is the size of a two year old and is able to reach every area of the kitchen. The colors are bright and there is plenty of room for storage. She has played with the kitchen everyday since we have arrived. I researched play kitchens for several weeks before purchasing and this kitchen is well worth the money. I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a superior kitchen for a family member.

5.0 out of 5 stars wonderful play kitchen for pre-schooler, August 7, 2006
This review is from: Large Kitchen (Toy)
We bought this for my daughter's 3 year birthday and it was a huge hit. It is very solid, a nice size (almost 4 ft high by almost 4 feet long), big enough for 2 children to play with simaltaneously, and most of all NOT PLASTIC. My husband and I were amazed at the quality for the price and I think my daughter will get several years worth of play out of it it. I highly recommend it (keep in mind it took my husband 2-3 hours to assemble)!!
