Our Kidcraft Kitchen Set is a year old. My daughter received it for her second birthday and after a few months of gentle play, the refrigerator door fell off. We continue to use it, but the particle board where the top of the door attached previously broke off, so the door falls off pretty much whenever anyone touches it. We've spent the last year trying to rig the door back on, but have been unsuccessful. There are a few redeeming features. It's a taller unit than many others, so it works well for our tall daughter. The sink and stove height are perfect for her - she doesn't have to stoop down to play. I also like that the stove and sink area give her enough "work space" to prepare her food. The color scheme is nice - not too bright or tacky. It blends in with the rest of our playroom. Kids love playing with the oven knobs. The hands of the clock on the side actually move, but my daughter hasn't noticed them yet. The phone and notepad on the side are stickers and therefore, nonfunctional. In addition to attaching the door more securely, the only other suggestion I would make to the manufacturers is to put more shelves in the refrigerator/cabinet door. There is only one shelf halfway up. We keep our plastic food in baskets and place them on the shelves, but haven't found very many deep baskets to hold all of our food, so with our shallow baskets, a lot of space is wasted. The kitchen set was easy to assemble. It took my husband and father less than an hour. ETA: In the three months since I have written the review, the oven door and the door under the sink have both fallen off. We got hinges at Lowes and reattached the doors. It looks ghetto, but I'm not interested in buying a new set at this point. When I purchased this kitchen, I only considered wooden sets because I liked the looks of them better. Upon experiencing the poor quality of this model, I wish I had bought a plastic one. I am sure all the doors would still be attached securely.

My daughter received this kitchen from Santa 3 years ago when she was not quite 2 years old. I wanted something that was made from mdf or composite so it would be extremely heavy, yet not plastic or cheap. She has loved it from the moment she got it. We carved out a place in our kitchen for it and it's become a permanent fixture. While I'm busy fixing dinner, she goes over and fixes dinner. It has an endless amount of playtime and requires her to use her own imaginiation- no sound effects included with this one! Now that she's learning to read she even sounds out the grocery list that is painted on the fridge door. A clock on the side with moveable minute and hour hands is a great educational bonus as well. I can't even count the number of times she has "taken my order." This was by far one of the best toy investments we've ever made. It gets played with by every kid who comes in our door- no matter what age or gender. Fair warning, though- because this is a sturdy item of high quality, it took my very handy husband several hours to put together.

We researched this product and were so pleased to find the good reviews. Unfortunately, ours must have been one too many off the assembly line. Within 24 hours two doors had broken off and by the second week a third. One review stated that these were "real" wood however I should have called the company directly because when the doors rip off you can plainly see they are pressed composite. Although our daughter likes it keep in mind there is no prep surface so if you like us bought mixers or toasters there is no flat surface to work on. I like to think my kids are pretty typical and this wasn't a rough play incident. Very dissapointing.

This kitchen is beautiful. My daughters (5 & 2 yrs) love it. They play with it for hours everyday. My 5 year old is very tall and this kitchen is still the perfect size for her. I'm sure she will play with this kitchen for a few more years. We had a plastic Smoby kitchen before this one and it was a piece of junk and had a toxic smell to it. It didn't even last 4 months. This pastel, large Kidkraft kitchen has held up amazingly well. We only had a problem with the bottom hinge on the oven door which snapped off when my daughter was playing with it. I went to their website and followed the instructions to order a new oven door. It was easy! I expected that they may charge me for the door as the kitchen was a year old and no longer under warranty, but to my surprise, the oven door arrived 3 days later on my doorstep at no charge. Great customer service!!! Now a days every toy kitchen on the market is poorly constructed (even the overpriced and small Pottery Barn ones), but this Kidkraft one can take a lot of abuse and if something does eventually go wrong with it, the customer service is fantastic and it's extremely easy to order a new part online!!! I would definitely recommend this kitchen to a friend.

I am one who completely obsesses over purchases before making them - I started looking at kitchens for my little girl in june and i finally ordered this one last week. It came 2 days after i ordered it - yahoo! Although i was missing one part, i was still able to put the kitchen together and customer service said the missing part was on its way.Yes, it does take a great deal of time to put together BUT there is nothing hard about it. I only used a little electric screwdriver and the tool that came with the kitchen. It took me almost 3 hours, BUT i was working alone AND my little girl (almost 2 yrs old) was 'helping' me the whole time! It was a joy, however, to get it put together and to watch her begin to play. The assembly time was not a negative feature in my book - I'm proud to have a fine quality item for my child and future children to play with. The kitchen is in my kitchen, so my little girl cooks while i cook. I feel that we have already gotten our $[...] worth out of it in even the short time that we've had it b/c she has SO much fun playing with it. At the end of EVERY meal now she says "all done eating....cook in kitchen...play" and she's down playing with her kitchen. The size is great - not too big, not too small. The colors are VERY pleasant - not bright, yet not too pastel (i mean, the colors are pastel, but not baby colors). I love that it has the raised burners on the stove instead of the flat burners. The kithcen faucet is very cute and realistic and there is PLENTY of storage/play room. I love that there are no noises from the buttons - such a great opportunity for learning and imaginative play. If i were to list a negative feature it would be these: the 'telephone' is not one that kids can hold - it's just painted onto the side of the fridge and the water dispenser on the fridge is just painted on also. I wish these two features were more realistic. However, we are thrilled with our purchase and would buy it again if I had it to do all over again.

My daughter was 8 when she asked for a Kitchen. We looked everywhere, as she is a tall girl for her age, we had a really hard time finding a kitchen that she didn't have to be on her knees to play with. She would get really frustrated because as she put it "little girls don't even understand how to play house yet, why do they only make kitchens for 3 year olds?"After reading numberous reviews I decided on this kitchen, it is still a little short for her but it was a great buy. She absolutely loves it and so do all of her friends that come over. She is going to be 10 this year and she still plays with it all the time. It is really easy to put together, minimal issues and it is really sturdy. We haven't had anything break on it. She isn't really rough on it since she is older and knows how to take care of things, but it is a beautiful piece and we will be keeping it for the grandkids some day! Totally worth the money!

My daughter is only 18 months, so her interaction with the kitchen has a long way to grow. But I can certainly see that she will grow into and will love it more and more. She already loves opening the doors and turning the knobs and prentending to cook noodles. It's also extremely well-built and I can see it lasting through a few more kids, at least. It's also just so cute. We love it.

We researched play kitchens extensively before purchasing this one for our 2-year-old and 4-year-old last Christmas. Although it is a heavy kitchen (not cheap plastic), the hinges are not sturdy; therefore, the doors fall off fairly easily. Our kids hardly play with the kitchen and two doors have already fallen off due to cheap hinges. When you set up the kitchen, I would plan to install heavy duty hinges so you don't have the same problem (and holes left in the doors). Otherwise it is a decent product...and it looks beautiful in our playroom. As mentioned by previous reviewers, it takes quite a long time to set it up. Beware of waiting until the "night before" to set it up. My husband only had one hour of sleep last Christmas because he was busy putting it together all night long.

I bought this kitchen for my daughter when she turned 2 (almost 3 years ago!) I chose it because most all reviews seemed satisfied and I wanted a sturdy kitchen that would last. We love this kitchen! Its extremely durable! My daughter and her brother can be rough so they have climbed and di all sorts of stuff on this kitchen and it looks as good as the day we got it! It cleans easy even after she wrote on it...it came right off with erasers. I recommends this kitchen and am so happy we got this one:) I now have another baby who already just loves this kitchen!

No pieces have fallend off or fallen apart and KidKraft has a fast and easy parts supply website(free parts too). I'd definitely recommend this product. It's adorable and sturdy!
