I purchased this set for my 6 year old son. We are not Jewish, we are Christians, but I really was looking for a wooden dreidel. I thought he might be too old for this but he still loves to play with 'play food' and the like. He was absolutely thrilled with this. I must say for the price it's an excellent value. I am going to purchase one and donate it to our library. It's really a beautifully made wooden toy. It smells like wood too, not some prefab garbage. (What I'm saying is it's 'solid'.) It comes with a bag to hold everything.
It comes with a paper that has a brief history of Chanukah and directions on how to play the dreidel game. If you're contemplating this set, all the reviews thus far are correct. It's a really sweet set. Well made, beautiful primary colors, and well packaged. Great price! As I type this, my son just asked to play with the set... so for today it's beat out the Wii. It's a decent size, candles come in and out, flames are removable as well. Two latkes, one spatula, 6 wooden 'gold coins' a frying pan, and a dreidel. Plus the bag which is even decent... Buy this, you won't be sorry. Buy three, one for yourself, one for a gift, and one to donate to your local library or children's center!

This toy is durable and made well. My soon to be 3 year old loves playing with this, while learning about the holiday at the same time. It's nice to have a Menorah a toddler can participate in "lighting."

We got this kit for my 2.5 year old son and 14 month old daughter. The menorah is terrific - it has nine candles, and nine flames, and the kids can put them together, and 'light' the right number on the right night. The menorah is sturdy and just right for small hands. The flipper, pan and latkes are also the right size and durable. The dreidel and few coins are too big and clumsy, and there are not enough coins to really play. (everything is made of wood in this kit). The directions for playing dreidel are wrong (letters with game rules are mixed up). This is a great kit, though, and you can just go buy those cheapie plastic dreidels elsewhere. This is a worthwhile toy.

This Menorah is really well made. The flames actually come out of the candle, which I didn't realize, but love about this toy. Each night, we light our menorah and our 20 month old gets to put the flames on her candles! We read books about Chanukah and then we open a present! It's a wonderful, solid toy that will be in our family for years! Go Kidkraft!

I felt like such a good jewish mother when I got this toy! I bought it for the menorah (he loved playing with our real menorah) but I had no idea how much he would love the pan and spatula! My son is 20 months old, and its perfect for him right now. The puzzle part (putting the candles in the pegs) is just right. There is no "wrong" hole" and he doesn't have to turn the peg to fit it in the slot like other puzzles. My favorite thing is that he does pretend play with it. He has one candle light the others while he makes kissing noises. When he is done, he exclaims "ah men!" SO cute! I can see that he will enjoy this toy in future years, especially the dreidel part which he doesn't yet understand. I would recommend this for any child's first hanukkah. Even if they are too young the first year, you will have it to do hanukkah practice the following year.

I bought this as a Chanukah gift for my almost 2-year old. She loved it right away and was excited each night to "light" her own candles. She also loved making us latkes in the frying pan and playing with her dreidel. I love the bright colors and quality construction of this KidKraft toy. I always took an opporutnity to talk about the colors and count the candles with her each day and used it as a learning tool as well. If you are looking for a Chanukah toy, this is the best one out there!

These toys can take some serious toddler abuse and the kids love putting the candles together, taking them apart and putting them back together again. We just purchased 10 sets so that every toddler in our synagogue can play and learn about all the mitzvahs relating to Chanukkah.

Both my children 2 & 6 love this toy. It has provided a great opportunity for us to talk about the holiday without worry of getting little fingers burnt. We are also going to use it as a presentation aid when we go to their school/day cares to talk about the holiday. Also, it is very well made. We are very pleased with this product!

This Chanukah set is very attractive and very durable. We bought it for our almost 3 year old in preparation for Chanukah and she loves to play with her "Baruch Atah Adonai," as she calls it. The candles are really cute - she loves to pretend to light them and say the blessing. She enjoys making pretend latkes. The dreidel is really nice too and spins very well. We are now looking into buying the Shabbat set and we will be getting the Passover set in time for Pesach next year.

Bought this set for my four-year old. The menorah is sturdy and well made, the gelt are shiny, the dreidel spins decently and the latkas are cute. But for us, the most important aspect were the wooden "flames". We possess a set of lovely, but idiotic cats. The beasties are not the slightest bit afraid of fire. In fact, they are fascinated by flames and can (and do) jump anywhere we try to put candles. They are also first-class escape artists from any room we try to pen them in while candles are lit. Therefore, the current rule is that an adult must be within arms reach of every single candlestick at all times. If they have to move, the candles get blown out. Needless to say, this causes an issue with menorahs. However, with this set, my daughter "lights" her wooden menorah while we light the actual menorah each night. As soon as dinner is over, the real menorah gets blown out for safety, while her menorah stays "lit". This has made our daughter feel very proud of both herself and her "Very Important Toy" while we manage to avoid flambéd cat for another year. Oh yeah, and the canvas bag that actually holds everything when all the pieces are put away is pretty sweet too.
