4.0 out of 5 stars Cute and durable
This was a birthday present for my 4 year old - she really likes it. She's very into baking right now and often helps with her grandmother or I when we cook, so it is fun for her to be able to serve her own cupcakes, even when we aren't up for making the real ones. She also uses this for tea parties. The scale is right for little hands. I'm not sure that the...

2.0 out of 5 stars Cute toy but does not last!
This toy is just too cute! The bad thing is we have had it less then a week and the paint on the cupcakes is already chipping off. Also, the screw that comes with the stand to hold it together does not fit properly so it falls apsrt and then you have to go on a hunt for the missing screw.

The adults in the house think it's fun too!

Santa brought this for my 3 yr old daughter and she has spent many hours playing with it in her little kitchen. Very cute, durable and easy for little fingers to play with.

Highly recommend for play.

These cupcakes are very cute and fun for little ones, but the tops keep falling off.

Pros: The cupcakes are very cute and the perfect size for my little one. They are a good quality product made from wood, so if they are dropped often they should hold up. They are also very colorful.

Cons: The tops of the cupcakes come off so you can make different cupcake combinations. Well, that would be fine if the tops snapped on or screwed on, instead they just sit on the top of each cupcake base. So, when you little one goes to pick them up she has to hold on to the top of it too or it will fall off. That was really upsetting my little one. She couldn't really play with it without the tops falling off. So we took a hot glue gun and glued the tops down. She can't mix and match them anymore, but that is not really something she cared too much about. Also, with the way little kids play with things, the paint could easily chip off. I may seal it with a polyacrylic top coat to help.

Overall though, the cupcakes are cute and my little one loves to play with them with her tea set.

2.0 out of 5 stars Would pass on this one..., January 24, 2012
= Durability:2.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars

These look really cute, but aren't much fun to play with and my little girl gets aggravated because if she picks up the stand (which she loves to carry it to her table) then all the cupcakes slide off. Also the tops fall right off since they aren't magnetic or have velcro. I actually added velcro circles to the base and the toppings so they would stay on but she can still change the toppings around. Also the screw it came with to hold the stand together wasn't long enough therefore wouldn't keep the stand together so I had to find a long enough, but not too long screw to add to the bottom to hold it together. We have some other stands with desserts and cupcakes that are MUCH better. I would pass on this one... Don't give into the cuteness of it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not really a toy. This cupcake set is small!, January 12, 2012

When we were at a neighbors one day, my daughter found a cupcake set among their toys. She played and played and played with it so I decided it would be a great Christmas gift. I did a lot of comparison among the sets here and finally chose this one based on the reviews. I was disappointed from the moment I saw the set. It is small!! My first thought was, "My 1 and 3 year old are going to choke on the pieces." My husband reassured me that it wasn't as bad as it looked so I wrapped it up and put it under the tree. (I should have gone with my mother's intuition.) My daughter unwrapped the set, but had no interest in it. I kept it out for her to play with for two weeks, but the only thing she and her brother did with the set was stick the cupcake tops in their mouths. After one too many scary retrievals of the tops from my son's mouth, I sent the set back. I'm not a choking expert, and it might be possible that the tops are too large to actually wedge themselves in a toddler's throat, but they are certainly small enough to easily fit in their mouths. Not only does that scare a mother, but I can't imagine that paint and wood in a child's mouth is very good for their health. I also agree with the other reviewer here who had problems with the screw that held the stand together. Something in the assembly is just not right and it falls apart. The stick that holds it together then becomes another danger expecially if you child were to fall with it in their mouth. If you have an older child who doesn't put things in their mouths, this might be an okay set, but since there really is nothing to do with it except put the tops on and off the cupcake bottoms, most kids will get bored with it fast. Not one of my nine older children even bothered to look at the set and they generally love to play with the little kids toys.

One positive of this set is that it is cute. I would be darling if it were displayed in a doll collection. My daughter also was excited because it comes in a pink box.

The product is well made and colorful. I like that we can switch the tops to make different combinations which is great for learning to sort and count. They are painted wood so can get scratched and/or chipped. They can also become hard projectiles but they are small and lightweight so shouldn't cause too much damage if thrown and/or dropped.

This is much smaller than I thought. Made very cheaply, came with dents and chips, sits crooked and can't be fixed, it's like it's warped? Not worth shipping it back but definitely wouldn't buy again or recommend. Came up in made in USA search but very clearly isn't. Too bad.

I bought this for my 4 year old and she can handle the cakes and toppings just fine, however the stand does not have a lip or edge to it, so if I or my daughter try to it carry around by the stand or frankly at all, the cakes come sliding off immediately. If it stays in one place then you are all set.
