Quality was not the best. First calendar had a broken magnet and boxes assembled in the wrong order. Second calendar had pieces which were not glued on when it arrived. The company, however, was very quick to send out a replacement.

We wanted a durable advent calendar that we could use over the years. (It's better for the environment that way.) We liked this advent calendar because each piece has its own door and our three-year-old child was very excited to see what was going to be revealed when the door was opened. We think this will last us for several years.

Also, we surprised our child by putting a little piece of chocolate in each door.

If you buy this, be aware that the little pieces are not easy to get out of their compartment unless you have little hands. That's good for children but not so good for adults. Also, when all of the pieces are out and sticking to the background, it's very crowded. It's a little challenging to figure out where each piece goes unless you don't mind a shepherd flying in the air.

Another thing that bothered me is that the characters are all Caucasian. Obviously, people who lived in Bethlehem didn't look European or American, and in the 21st century we should be culturally more aware.

To end on a positive note, the packaging is excellent. Each piece fits into its own mold in a larger plastic covering. It's easy to pack up and put into storage for the next year. Overall, I am happy with this purchase.

I'll admit, I wasn't pleased about spending $50 for an advent calendar, but after much research (most advent calendars ARE expensive), I chose this one. I was worried that it would be cheap and fall apart, but it is wonderful! Very sturdy, and big! My twin 4 yr. olds love it and it will grow with them (it is not babyish). The characters are magnetic, which I hadn't been sure about when I first read the description. I would highly recommend this product and it is well worth the $$!

I have a 3 year old and a 1 1/2 year old. They both are loving this advent calendar! We look forward to using it for years to come.
