Good luck getting this bed! I ordered it 5 months ago (with availability being 2-4 weeks. Each month I was told it will available "next month." I finally cancelled my order and purchased the Little Tykes one before my frustrated 3 yr. old outgrows a toddler bed.

This bed is very cute and easy to assemble. It is also a great choice if you have a small space! We have 3 boys and a small house. Needless to say, it's necessary for all 3 to share a room. This bed worked perfect because it easily fit into the room without making it feel cramped. The only thing to consider is that it is only designed to hold weights up to approximately 50 lbs. You can't sit on it with your child to read but it is low enough to the ground that you can sit right next to it and still share a story. All in all, a good buy for the money.

My two year old LOVES this bed! With another baby on the way, we needed to get him out of his crib and into a big boy bed - this was the perfect solution! It is well made, and although it comes in in a lot of pieces, was rather easy to assemble (each piece is numbered).

We are very happy with this product and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good toddler bed.. one glaring flaw, December 17, 2009
= Durability:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:3.0 out of 5 stars

The overall bed is good.. easy to assemble (even with the two year old 'helping').. the look of the bed is nice and the design is good. I think this is better then that bulky Step2 fire truck bed.. its more practial and more like a bed and less like a toy.

The one fatal flaw I believe is the crappy shelf in the front. It is a very thin piece of wood that is held in there by slats on adjacent boards... however this is a TODDLER BED and of course our son has a tendancy to climb on the front part of the bed (truck)... and often steps in and on the shelf part.. a few times now the shelf given way on one of the long sides.. cracking the board. Not sure why they didn't use the same thickness of boards as the other parts of the bed.. that would have been much better and safer.

Its a toddler bed.. the kid is bound to be all over it... so what is up with the cheap, thin shelf.

Otherwise it really is a great bed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Boys love their beds!, June 29, 2008

purchased 2 of these for my 2. yr old twin boys.
They LOVE them and often choose to play in their beds when it is not even time to sleep/nap.
Easy enough to assemble for one person. I had 2 of the bottom pieces that were not cut correctly and when I called the company a real person answered the phone right away and they sent out replacement parts quickly and without any hesitation (bed was still perfectly usable without these parts).
They are very low to the ground, which my guys love as it allows them to sit on the edge and have their feet touch the ground.

The quality of this bed is pretty good. It was easy to set up taking about 3 hours by myself. The instructions were clear and easy to follow, and it does look much better in real life than the pictures. The only quibble I had was with the screws that are supposed to be painted to match the red or grey areas. The paint was chipped off on arrival. It looked ok, so I went ahead and put them on. They chipped more as I used the allen wrench. Either way it wasn't too bad, so I left it alone. I figure I can cover it up on my own. I received the bed in 4 days after ordering on a Sunday.
Highly recommended, four starts for the painted screws.

5.0 out of 5 stars Our son loves it!, December 30, 2009
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:2.0 out of 5 stars

We have owned this bed for almost a year now. We moved our son from his crib to this bed when he started climbing out of the crib, a few months shy of 2 years old. It arrived quickly and mostly intact. One piece arrived broken, the red crossbar at the front, but we called KidKraft and they shipped a replacement piece which arrived in a couple of days. I was able to assemble the bed by myself fairly quickly, the instructions were easy to follow. The construction of the bed is pretty solid. I was a little concerned by the fact that the each side of the bed is made up of two sections joined together, end to end. I was worried that these might loosen over time and become a bit wobbly. After almost a year of use and moving the bed between rooms, I can say that the bed is still rock solid.

Most importantly, though, our son absolutely loves this bed! Whenever friends come over to the house for the first time, he still wants to show them his bedroom. He also has the KidKraft firehouse bookcase in his room and these two pieces of furniture look great in his room.

Solid bed, prompt and friendly customer service, lots of fun for a two year old! What more could we ask for?

I had absolutely no trouble purchasing this bed. I bought it on a Tuesday and it was delivered on a Friday. Great bed, my son loves it! I didn't realize quite how low to the ground the bed would be - but it is for a little person, so no worries! It is actually even cuter in person than in the picture. I am overall very happy with the purchase.

Overall this toddler cot is good. My son's (3 yr old) transition from Crib to Toddler cot was easier than we thought with this Fire Truck designed cot, which is one of his favorite themes. Initially we had trouble making him lie on the correct side. He prefered to sleep with his head on the front side of the truck, but the guard rails are on the back side of the truck. It took couple of days to convince him to sleep in the correct direction/orientation. After that it was perfect. He uses the toy storage area for some of his favorite toys.

It did take a while to put it together (about 3-4 hours with some distractions in between). One issue I would say with this cot is, in the middle of the truck, on the inside, the screw projects out so much, the mattress was not an easy fit. It is a very tight fit in the middle section I described above. I even worry, the side wall of the mattress could tear because of this. And we use the regular sized mattress.

I really like this bed, so did my husband (one hour or less "put together" time) and my 2 1/2 yr old son sleeps like a big boy! Happy that it still took the crib mattress that we never used until now because my son preferred his play pen. Storage at the end of bed is a great idea, it personalizes the bed...
Bed doesn't have any bells and whistles but it's a bed and that's what we wanted. A Great, SAFE bed!
