5.0 out of 5 stars Lots of fun for my 4 and 6 year old
My two boys avoided the Wii and put down their bakugans to spend hours playing with this set. Lots of fun.

-- it's a multilevel rocketship with rooms, an elevator, stairs, doors, etc.
-- lots of little pieces and parts to add/remove/move around the set
-- large enough for them to mix in their matchbox cars, lego characters etc for even more fun...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great toy if you are ready for some DIY
I bought this toy for this my two sons a year ago. They are now 2 and 4 and play with this toy at least once a week. The toy came in about a million pieces. The wood is really thick and the paint good, but the construction is horrible. The upside is that if you are handy at all with some wood glue, the entire ship can be glued together. I have only had to make minor...

-- well made, with lots of detail in the painting and decal work. Lots to explore.

Parents take note: this set has an impressive number of parts coming out of the box, but once assembled it's just fine. Assembly took about a half hour but was pretty smooth.

We purchased this toy for our three year old son last christmas, and it has been a big hit. The open sided design makes it great for parallel play with his little brother, and the colorful details have led to many discoveries as he played with the rocket. We placed the rocket on a small train table to bring it up off the ground and to keep the accessory pieces as contained as possible. So far, the only drawback is that the nose of the rocket and the top "windows" do not stay put, and the nose cone is pretty heavy compared to the rest of the structure. We removed the nosecone for now without any problem, at least until both boys are old enough to leave it in place while they play. Assembly was straightforward. I would confidently recommend this toy.

The only thing my son requested from Santa was a rocket ship so I searched Amazon and found this one and a couple of others. After showing him pics, "Santa" decided on this one. And my son is absolutely thrilled with it! Between this and his boats, he is in heaven. I assembled it in the middle of night without any problem. And besides the top plastic pieces not staying on very well, I had none of the problems mentioned in the previous post. For any future astronaut or space explorer, this is a wonderful choice. I know my son would be giving it 5 stars without a doubt. We've been playing with it for hours every day since Santa's arrival.

This was #1 on the list. An expensive gift and NOT worth it. Took forever to put it together and it does not stay together. Dangerous top piece is too heavy for the toy and keeps falling off. Now, he's too afraid to play with this since he's been beaned a few times by the big, red top. Sooooo, disappointing. They are on the right track but, sure did miss the mark.

I have only had to make minor repairs after gluing the toy at all major joints. The top of the rocket and the base leading up to the rocket do not want to stay on no matter what glue I use, so these pieces have pretty much just been removed.

My kids love the toy and its great because they can play together without overlapping each other. Its a favorite in our house.

This is a great wooden toy (some plastic components) with 100% kid-powered creativity--love it! Zero batteries but lots of clicking dials and nooks and crannies to explore. The working elevator is excellent, with a pulley system that is really teaching my 3 1/2 year old twins about cause and effect (turn knobs one way, it goes up--the other way, it goes down, and having to stop turning in time to line it up with one of the "floors"). It is also nice that it's a round, open toy that can be played with by several kids at the same time without them elbowing for space. Seems very sturdy, as the twins have definitely abused the elevator by pulling too hard against the string, etc. and it's still fine. Good purchase!

This is a well-made, unique, and kid-friendly toy. Made mostly of wood, fairly high quality and not too difficult to assemble. My kids were really excited to play with it the first few days after Christmas; they've since lost interest but I think if I put it in the middle of their room they'd play with it for a while quite happily. I'd definitely get it again.

I bought this for my 4 year old nephew for christmas. He loved it! He loves to play with it every day. It's wood and so it's strong but it does scratch easily. Assembly was reasonably easy. Overall, good toy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great imaginative toy, great gift, great value!, January 8, 2011
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars

My son got this as a Christmas gift. The assembly was quick and smooth despite my initial reaction to the number of parts in the box. Once assembled, it is quite impressive looking and inviting for play.

This spaceship is a hit with him and other kids that come over to play! It is smaller in size than a lot of other play set toys, so would be particularly good for those with a smaller play space. I really like that it is almost entirely wooden which makes it more durable and biodegradable (your child will thank you one day). But wooden means nothing if it's not fun and engaging - fear not, it is! Great for imaginative and cooperative play.

My only criticisms: the 2 stairs and ramp do not snap in, so they are easily pulled out. I can see that I'll probably try to glue them in soon.
