4.0 out of 5 stars Not so "Lego compatible".
Our 2 1/2 year old loves building with his "big boy" Lego's, so we ordered him this table, but the board is not as Lego compatible as it could be. Our 2 1/2 year old has a hard time sticking his Lego's to this board, but has no problems sticking his Lego's on his Lego brand boards. 1.0 out of 5 stars Not the best table for the job
The main trouble with this table is that you have to lift the building surface in order to reach the legos inside. This means that your child will have to dump the legos into something else (or on the floor) if he wants to build on top of the table. And he will have to move the top in order to put legos away, even if he wants to leave some fixed structure on the table...

If you line up the Lego brand boards next to the boards on this table, you'll see that they don't line up exactly the same. The boards this table uses are not that compatible with Lego's, therefor I don't recommend it to the really young ones who don't yet have the strength and control to really push down on the small Lego's.

This means that your child will have to dump the legos into something else (or on the floor) if he wants to build on top of the table. And he will have to move the top in order to put legos away, even if he wants to leave some fixed structure on the table. Lego tables with bags or pull-out tubs just work better.

Also, as another reviewer said, the blocks don't fit as well as they could.

I bought this table for my 5 year old son (who has a sensory processing disorder) to help him with his fine motor skills. The table was easy enough to put together, I didn't have any problems putting it together myself. Took about 15 minutes. The bricks that come with the table are not Lego brand, so don't expect the Lego quality for those. I knew that when I placed my order and just bought the regular Legos separately. We don't have a problem using the Legos with this table like some of the other reviewers have noted. The train set is only 30 pieces with a small track and my son only played with that once before he got bored. It might be good for younger kids, or if you purchased additional track pieces. My son is more interested in the Lego side of the table. I bought plastic storage bins from Wally-World to store the Legos inside the table and they are really convenient to just take out and either place on the table or on the floor. They were only $1 & $2 each for different sizes. All in all, I think this is a great table for the price and I have seen improvement in my son's fine motor skills in just a couple of weeks! I must admit that I have spent about as much time playing with the Legos at this table as my son has! I suppose you never outgrow Legos...

This table has many pros and cons.

Pros: If you child LOVES trains, this is a great table. My son goes around and around the table for hours each day, he's almost two and he can reach around the whole table unlike the bigger train tables. The storage is handy, too.

Cons: You can't fit a chair under it, so if your child wants to use it for something else, like coloring, they have to stand to do so. Also, the biggest size Mego Bloks made for toddlers do NOT fit on the Lego "compatable" side. Some of them will stay if you push down REALLY hard (if an adult does) but most of them don't stay, which is very dissapointing.

I purchased this table for $80 because I thought my son could use it for his MegaBloks, a train set, and sit at it and color, etc. Seeing as how he can't really use it for much, I kinda see it as a waste of money. I could've bought a much cheaper table set with chairs that he could put one of his many train sets on and use for Bloks, etc.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good but doesn't work with Duplo, May 9, 2010

I read a lot of reviews for lego tables. I finally picked this one after reading several reviewers state that you could use this with duplo legos. My daughter 23 months old and I don't feel comfortable giving her regular legos yet. We have a 70+ piece set of duplo legos that we bought that she plays with "on" the table but you unless you use adult strength you can't really get them to work on the table. There are some blocks that work but most of the bigger pieces (larger flat ones) will not work on the table.

My daughter is about 32" tall and can easily stand at the table and play. I contemplated buying a chair or something for her to use to sit and play but I don't think it would work given the low sides.

The table is very easy to put together and is well made. It took me approximately 10-15 minutes to put it together by myself. It probably would have taken less time if there was another person to help hold pieces as you worked. Overall great product!

My son has so much fun playing the both the train set and the legos. I was happy to see that the table came with the legos and train table. We also have a kidkraft dollhouse that our daughter loved.

My son received this table for christmas & has not stopped playing with it. We also got him legos & they are perfectly compatible. My son also likes the duplos & they also work great on this table. I was a little worried when I purchased this because it was not lego brand, but it works perfect. The other side is flat & comes with a wooden train set. He's a little old to play with the train set but the flat side is great for puzzles, drawing, anything you need a flat surface for. It's a good sized table but easy to move. With the smooth round edges he is able to move this from & to his room on his own.

This is a great little activity table for my two preschool aged boys! Most train tables are simply too large and obtrusive (we do not have a dedicated playroom in our house) so I ordered this one even though some of the reviews seemed a bit questionable because it was the only small table available. I am so very pleased!! First off, assembly was a breeze. Second, it is incredibly sturdy with nice, safe rounded corners. And, most importantly, my boys love it!! The train table side IS small but big enough to accommodate a figure eight set plus a bit more (but nothing too elaborate). The "Lego side" has been a bigger hit than I expected. I cannot speak as to whether it accomodates true Legos or not but it definitely cannot accommodate the larger store brand toddler-sized ones. No big deal for us at this point since it comes with an 80 piece set. Overall, a great table and I am extrememly pleased with my purchase!

I was very disappointed when I assembled this table and found that it is not "lego" compatible at all. The tiny little legos that came with it ( and seem to be the only ones that will fit onto it) are not any fun at all to play with. My grandchildren (3 and 5) don't even like to play with it because it is so limited in what you can do with it. I now have this expensive little table just sitting - I would like to return it but don't know how. I will not buy or recommend KidKraft to anyone.

I was so excited to get this for my almost two year old son. I wanted him to have it so he would have somewhere to play with his cars and trucks. And then later to play legos on it when he got older. We gave it to him Christmas morning and its not even a full ten days later and its broken. I'm heart broken. It broke because my son would lift up the board to gain access to the toys underneath. I guess he did it one too many times because as we sat watching a movie, we heard an awful crack and now one of the sides is coming off. I'm hoping that we can fix it so he can play with it more, otherwise it's just another thing for the trash. For eighty dollars you would think it would be a little more sturdy. Overall just not happy with what happened.
