4.0 out of 5 stars Protection for baby and crib!

1.0 out of 5 stars Waste of money
We purchased this for our son's Emily convertable crib. The strip never went on firmly from the start and thus didn't stay on at all. I guess if anything it provides him entertainment after waking from his nap in that he can sit there and work at pulling it off...Efforts to get it to re-stick with a hair dryer were futile. Should have spent our money on something else.

4.0 out of 5 stars Protection for baby and crib!, October 19, 2007
This review is from: Kidkusion Gummi Crib Rail (Baby Product)
With our first baby we had a traditional crib with one drop down side(Simplicity was the brand), and bought those plastic rail covers that "snap-on" to the crib rail. Those were horrible, they were too small and only covered the actual rail. My son, like most babies just chewed the short sides of the crib where there was no rail cover. With our newest addition we purchased a crib that did not have the typical railing (Bonavita brand crib). This crib was a lot pricier than our first crib and we were at a loss as to what to do when our baby began chewing on the rail. The crib is large and has many carved wood accents to it, it does not have a typical rail that the plastic snap on type rail guards would fit. I searched the internet and found this Gummi Rail guard. It is a rubbery material that claims to be non-toxic and medical grade. It comes as one long strip that has adhesive on its underside. You just clean your crib surface that you will attach it to and stick it on. DO let it set and don't disturb the rail for a few hours as suggested on the box. We didn't and a corner began lifting slightly. Other than that, I can not imagine a crib that this would not work for. Buy two so that you can protect all the surfaces of the crib baby can chew on.

4.0 out of 5 stars saved the crib, January 11, 2007
This review is from: Kidkusion Gummi Crib Rail (Baby Product)
The Gummie Rail Guard was a good investment. My daughters crib has larger sides which regular crib guards wouldn't fit. The gummie guards will fit any size. The only problem I found is that the tape which holds them on isn't tacky enough. Don't get me wrong... they work but my daughter found an edge and started lifting off of the crib. I had some left over and put the new piece on and she hasn't bothered with it. Maybe I didn't put it on correctly the first time? Gummie saved my daughter crib from her teeth!

5.0 out of 5 stars Has saved an heirloom crib through two kids!, October 24, 2009
This review is from: Kidkusion Gummi Crib Rail (Baby Product)
We bought and applied this product when my son started teething. It is VERY important to first thoroughly clean the surface where you plan on applying the strip with alcohol. If there is any oily residue, the adhesive will not stay put. Our son is now four, and our one-year-old daughter has inherited this crib. The original rail protector is still in place and not so much as a corner has started to lift.

We have a Young America convertible crib. My 9-month-old has chewed the side rails, so there is peeling paint on the rails. I applied this gummi saver and at first I thought it was great, but two days later, the stickiness has come undone and the part of the gummi saver the he chewed on has popped off. My son now chews the gummi rail saver and the rail. Not to mention, the white paint peeled off WITH the gummi saver, so the crib looks even worse.

Will be buying the Easy Teether side rails. Wish I had bought those to begin with, as I bought the long rail Easy Teether and it works great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great if applied appropriately the first time..., January 26, 2011
This review is from: Kidkusion Gummi Crib Rail (Baby Product)
When we discovered that our son was chewing his crib, we bought this product. I bought several of them, as he was also chewing on our tables in the living room. I applied the ones to the furniture in the living room, cleaning the surface as the instructions say. It stuck like a champ for two years until we took it off. On the other hand, my husband applied it to the crib, failing to clean the surface. That piece came off within the week. Once I cleaned the surface and reapplied the product, it remained in place for two years.

This saved not only my son's convertible crib, but also our furniture from little baby teeth marks. Now, I'm buying it again for our second son! We LOVE this product.

When I first applied the strip, I cleaned the crib with rubbing alcohol, stuck it on, and let it set overnight as suggested. However, after less than a week, my son had peeled it up in many places with his teeth, taking some of the paint off with it. I went back to the directions, and gave it another shot. I cleaned the underside of the exposed parts of the strip with rubbing alcohol, scraped off the loosened paint and cleaned those areas with alcohol, and then heated it with a hairdryer and let it set again. If I did it again, I would have used a hairdryer to apply it in the first place. This is a good product--my son loves chewing on it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Tape doesn't stick but it still works, January 27, 2009

They peel off tape is useless so I used about 4 zip ties to hold it down. My 9 month old daughter now loves to chew her crib rail even more now that it's a built in teether.

You might as well glue a foam pool noodle to the crib rail, becuase this thing doesn't stick. Seeing that others have had problems with these not sticking, I figured that they couldn't be manufactured that poorly and that others were maybe not cleaning the rail well enough before applying. I was wrong. These don't stick without the help of your adhesive of choice.

My daughter has a crib made by Davinci and this did not work at all. I was excited to receive it but my excitement disappeared when it would not adhere to her crib. I rubbed her crib down with rubbing alcohol as explained in the directions but still no luck. Do not waste your time and save your money this does not work.
