4.0 out of 5 stars Great for blinds for tall windows and doors, January 6, 2009

We like natural light and raise the mini-blinds on our windows when we don't need to block out the heat of the summer sun. The cords for the blinds for the taller windows and the sliding patio doors puddle on the floor unless you either cleat them, which takes a bit of effort, or use these cord winders. They don't last forever--eventually the spring wears out, and they won't wind all the cords of a large window's blind, but they are the best thing I've found in ten years of looking.

4.0 out of 5 stars best product out there for long blinds, March 27, 2007

This review is from: Kidco S302 Blindwinder - Stores Dangerous Blind Cords (2 Pack) (Baby Product)
Our one-year olds are effectively foiled by these. For really long blinds (from really tall windows) they are less work and a ton quicker than the manual wind-around-the-plastic-piece method and I didn't have to drill into woodwork or walls. Our blinds were too long to work with the other kind of cord winder used to just permantly take up slack. Yes, they aren't the sturdiest things around. I think they'll probably last us only 1-3 years (with repairs) before completely dying. Yes, you can repair them yourself...assuming some mechanical ability and 2 very patient spare hours of time to rewind the spring. Worth it only to us where time comes easier than money ;) Also, the more cord you try to wind the less well they work. And for goodness sake read the directions and don't just pull the cute little plastic pin before attaching it to something (thus un-winding the spring and making it a blindtoggle instead of a blindwinder) And YES, I'd still buy these again because they still wind all of my blinds in less than 30 seconds in the morning and keep the cords safe from the kids. Worth it for me.

1.0 out of 5 stars Break too easily, June 22, 2010

Great concept, but too fragile. I've had multiple of these break after just four or five retractions. I'm going to stick to a simpler solution going forward.
