5.0 out of 5 stars Simple yet sturdy and useful bracket, October 28, 2011

This review is from: Kidde 466400 PRO 340 Fire Extinguisher Metal Bracket, Heavy Duty, Compatible with Kidde 5-Pound Fire Extinguishers (Tools & Home Improvement)
This bracket is very inexpensive and is designed specifically for the 5# Kidde extinguishers.

Four screws will hold this bracket firmly to the wall and the top of the Kidde extinguisher slides easily but firmly into the groves located at the top of the extinguisher. The slick strap then holds the heavy unit firmly and safely in place.

This is a well made product that should outlast future changes and servicing of the PRO series fire extinguishers.

The bracket features a quick release clip. Just hold the top of the extinguisher with one hand and flick the clip in the direction of the wall or mounting surface and your ready to use the extinguisher as needed.

An added extra is the wall decal, which is self adhesive and is actually larger than the extinguisher itself. This obviously helps let others know the location of the fire extinguisher and would be useful in an emergency situation and may actually be required by many local government agencies.

Our race car required a metal bracket for the hand held fire extinguisher. I attached it to the roll cage using 3 stainless steel worm-drive clamps. I got hit in the rear very hard and the bracket did it's job of securing the aluminum fire extinguisher.

I used this to mount a 5lb co2 tank to the wall for running a keg and making seltzer water. Just cut the strap and use large hose clamps to secure tank on wall. Works good!

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for a PRO 5-TCM, December 16, 2010

This review is from: Kidde 466400 PRO 340 Fire Extinguisher Metal Bracket, Heavy Duty, Compatible with Kidde 5-Pound Fire Extinguishers (Tools & Home Improvement)
Just got this and installed it for a Kidde PRO 5-TCM/8 (which seems to be the same as a PRO 340).
Easy to install, there are 5 holes. Screws are not provided.
It looks strong and the metal latch looks secure yet easy to open in case of emergency.

Note that my PRO 5 came with a mounting bracket, one that is L-shaped without the latch. I tried it and found it insecure -- I didn't want to risk the kids knocking the extinguisher by mistake. So personally I find the non-latch wall mount useless and recommend this instead, it's worth the small price.

Extremely high-quality. Simple construction. Looks great. I have mine bolted inside my dune buggy because I was afraid of the plastic mounts breaking in a crash or roll; there's not a doubt in my mind that this bracket will hold strong in any disaster. Buy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Works like a charm!, November 27, 2010

Had two preexisting Kidde 5lb fire extinguishers in the house I bought without hangers.

Even fit the older looking of the two 5lb fire extinguishers.

Looks as if the size specs on the Kidde 5lb hangers are standardized. So I figure, probably no worries about these fitting the standard 5lb Kidde generic fire extinguishers unless you have one of those futuristic funky looking pink fire extinguishers.

Now I just have to a stud to zap them too! ;-)
