Alarms Use Ionization Technology to Detect Invisible Fire Particles
This pack contains two multipurpose i9050 smoke alarms and an i9060 smoke alarm, which is specifically designed for use in the kitchen. The alarms are full-sized ionization smoke alarms designed to protect you and your family from the dangers of smoke and fire. Ionization sensing alarms may detect invisible fire particles (associated with flaming fires) sooner than photoelectric alarms.

For optimal protection, Kidde strongly recommends that both ionization and photoelectric smoke alarms be installed.

Wire-Free Installation, Test Button, Low-Battery Indicator, and More
Powered by one 9-volt battery each, the i9050 and i9060 alarms provide continuous protection, even during power outages. The alarms are easy to install with no wiring required, and it's easy to tell that they're functioning properly--each alarm has a flashing red LED that clearly indicates it is receiving power. A test button verifies battery and alarm operation and a low-battery indicator chirps when the battery needs replacement.

The i9060 alarm offers some additional features, including a Hush function that temporarily silences nuisance alarms, making it ideal for use in the kitchen. The i9060's twist-off mounting plate makes installation and battery changes particularly easy, and the tamper-resist locking pin helps deter battery and alarm theft.

Kidde 21006181 Battery Operated Smoke Alarms, 3-Pack

I bought this on the Gold Box deal. Needed new smoke alarms. They were easily installed. So far, the kitchen alarm has only gone off once - when I had forgotten something on the stove. A great deal, a good brand, easy to install and set-up.

The alarms were easy to install, though they didn't quite fit the screw holes for our previous (really old) alarms. The button which one has to silence nuisance alarms works fine. It does cause the system to emit a periodic beep, which doesn't bother me, but caused the dog a great deal of concern.

We just had a new water heater installed, and the basement alarm kicked off very quickly after the installer started soldering the pipes. We are happy with the alarms, and the price (a deal of the day) was excellent.

We bought this 3-pack (along with several other detectors) as part of our project of replacing all the smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in our home. We installed one of these inside each bedroom. They just screw into anchors so they were easy to put up, and we didn't have any trouble inserting the batteries. So far we have not had any problems. The only thing to be cautious of that we didn't notice - you are not getting 3 of the same alarm. Only one of the alarms has a hush button and the other 2 don't, which aggravated us but not enough to return it. Either the description wasn't clear or we didn't pay close enough attention, but we thought all 3 were the same with a hush button. That's the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars.
