5.0 out of 5 stars the best I've used
I've had two other seat protectors, and this one is by far the best. It's somewhere between the Prince Lionheart two-piece really stiff plastic protector and the One Step Ahead one-piece really flexible protector. This one is taller than One Step Ahead's, and is the perfect material. It stays stiff, really protecting our seats, but it's not SO stiff and thick that you...

I got this for my brand new car, leather seats, to protect it from my two kids, one age five, the other two. They would occasionally drop some crackers or worst case scenario juice on the seat and I didn't want all that getting ground into the seat and the crevices that I couldn't vacuum out. What I didn't expect was the sticky-seat side of the mat to melt into my leather seats and glue itself to the seat. After pulling it off there is still plastic residue all over the bottom of the seat and no cleaner I've tried will fix it. I've since taken a bath towel, cut it in half, and put each half under the seats.
Wait for a sale on bath towels and you can protect your seat for about $3 each, not whatever these cost now. Plus, you won't ruin your brand new seats.

For those who will wonder, its a Ford Fusion, black paint, black leather, in Miami, FL, so yeah, its hot, but that should have been considered when this was developed. Since thrown away.

1.0 out of 5 stars Damages leather seats, January 16, 2011

This review is from: Kiddopotamus Elite Duomat 2 in 1 Car Seat Protector Mat (Baby Product)
I purchased this product a year and half ago. The non-skid material at the back of the seat started to stick to the leather seats of my Infiniti. I suspect that this material deteriorates with thermal cycling. I managed to remove most of this sticky material from my leather seats but some of it remains stuck probably forever. This was a disappointment given that the product is advertised as a "Premium 2-in-1 seat Protector". For me, it's definitely not a good seat protector if you have leather seats in your car.

This one is taller than One Step Ahead's, and is the perfect material. It stays stiff, really protecting our seats, but it's not SO stiff and thick that you have a hard time getting the seat tight enough. I love that the edges to this seat are flat (as opposed to Prince Lionheart's raised edges) - it makes the footprint seem not quite so imposing. All around, I LOVE this seat, would definitely buy it again, and will recommend it to all my friends!

Yea, I was one of those dad's who said we don't need no stinkin' seat protector when we first installed our car seats. That was 2 years ago and what I thought was smooth plastic on the back of the car seat has created a crease and a tear in my wife's Civic. Didn't want the same thing happening to my new SUV so I got 2 of these Kiddopotamus seat protectors, they work GREAT!

For those who say it "slides around"; DON'T BE SO LAZY AND READ THE INSTRUCTIONS THOROUGHLY AND CAREFULLY! After you buckle the car seat in on top of the seat protector you have to do something a little unusual. Depending on the vehicle, you should be able to pull the seat belt strap all the way out to engage it's locking mechanism, then when it draws up the remaining slack you can winch it tight and like magic, no movement.

This protector works very well. It could use an additional 3 inches in height to protect seats from the top lip of the car seat, but that lip isn't what caused the tear in the first place.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this thing, November 22, 2008
This review is from: Kiddopotamus Elite Duomat 2 in 1 Car Seat Protector Mat (Baby Product)
This seat protector is great. I have leather seats in my SUV and they were getting really bad dents in them from the car seat. Since I got the Kiddopotamus Elite Duomat, I have not had any more dents. It also helps keep my daughters food and drink spills from getting on the leather too. I wish that I had found this product when I had my first child.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it!!, January 1, 2010

Worth every penny. Everyone should have one. The only thing that I dislike is that it is too big to put in the middle part of the backseat of a sedan. Probably better if it is in the seat next to the windows or if it is put in an SUV or a bigger car. Aside from that, I am still using it. Saves my car's backseat from being scratched by the car seat!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great product, August 25, 2009
This review is from: Kiddopotamus Elite Duomat 2 in 1 Car Seat Protector Mat (Baby Product)
This has worked great for us. I really crank the seat down with the LATCH straps so the seat doesn't move around which means my daughter's seat gets really compressed into my car seat. This has really saved the car because we don't move the child seat that often so the seat would probably see permenant damage if it wasn't for the Kiddopotamus.

I only give it 4 stars rather than 5 because it doesn't protect the headrest, which gets dented, and because there needs to be a crumb barrier around the bottom that will trap all the stuff that the kids drop.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT non SLIP!, August 11, 2009
This review is from: Kiddopotamus Elite Duomat 2 in 1 Car Seat Protector Mat (Baby Product)
Love this for under my 4 month old's car seat! Under a rear facing infant seat you can fold the back down so it doesn't show and for a front facing it protects the entire back of the seat! I would recommend this to anyone!

3.0 out of 5 stars Shavings and liquids, June 24, 2011

This review is from: Kiddopotamus Elite Duomat 2 in 1 Car Seat Protector Mat (Baby Product)
Good for older kids but not for younger ones, who tend to drop liquids. The base of the seat protector does nothing to catch liquids. And a minor annoyance, the seat protector leaves tiny rubber shavings on the bottom of the seat.

Good quality - we use it with a toddler seat. Very pleased with the seat cover would purchase it again. Doesn't side or cover the seat belt fasteners. Has small pockets in the flap that goes down from the car seat (we use them to hold crackers or wipes).
