Great for summer swaddling,
This review is from: Kiddopotamus SwaddleMe Organic 100% Cotton Knit, Large, Natural (Baby Product)
Provides a cooler alternative for swaddling babies in the summer. Easy to use and fits larger babies very well.

Did not work for us!,

This review is from: Kiddopotamus SwaddleMe Organic 100% Cotton Knit, Large, Natural (Baby Product)
When we heard about this blanket, we were very excited. Our daughter loves to be swaddled, when we get it right - however, the blankets that we have (even the ones that the hospital used to swaddle her) were not very helpful for easy swaddling. And she works herself loose because she's getting stronger every day.
We hoped a blanket cut for swaddling with the velcro would be the solution... However, two problems: 1. It doesn't fit properly and she works herself loose despite the velcro - the velcro contact patches are very small - there should be a broader strip of velcro to attach to so it is more adjustable. Our daughter is small, and it is just too big on her. She swims in it. We hope it will work better when she gets bigger. 2. Fleece - decent winter solution, but terrible in the summer. And terrible if you keep your house over 60 degrees. If only it came in a lighter material (we haven't found it). Oh well... it definitely seems to work for some, so don't use our review as your only basis. THAT BEING SAID, HOWEVER, we found two other options: 1) When our kids were very young (-> 1 month) we used a large waffle weave blanket from Target (~$5) and it worked wonderfully... we can wrap it tight, and she does work herself loose after about 3 hours, but it is better than any of the previous solutions. 2) the Amazing Miracle Blanket (another swaddling blanket), was our by far favorite swaddling blanket One other note about swaddling - whenever she has been properly swaddled (usually by an expert) she loves it... We initially told some folks who have a lot of experience with children that she liked to have her arms loose. the response we got is that most babies behave that way, and it really is the small minority of babies that don't really like swaddling. Now that we know how to do it properly, we would agree.

Didn't work for my son,

I was looking for a transition from the 'miracle blanket' which my son was quickly outgrowing. This product seemed great, lightweight and big enough. While it definitely was big enough, my son (18 lbs) could easily get out of it. The velcro I found was just not strong enough for my wiggling baby. The material is very nice however so if your child is not a major wiggler or is not super strong yet then this could work for you. I decided to switch straight to a sleep sack (even though I was scared to) and it worked out great!

I love this swaddler. The fleecy kinds were great in March, but as it warmed up, we transitioned to this lighter-weight cotton swaddler. When our baby ourgrew the smaller size, I thought it was worth buying this next size up. I'd buy it again. Its not the Miracle Blanket, though; our baby at 5 months can easily get out of it when she's awake. That's fine for her sleeping habits, but might not work for everyone.
Also, its easy to wash, and we let it air dry to save the velcro (& energy.) Since it's light, it dries quickly.

Is your baby long, but lean?,

We've used a SwaddleMe (size S/M) since my son was just weeks old. At two months though, he was already 23 1/2 inches long. Although the S/M still fit around the chest, his legs were getting bunched up in it. I ordered this SwaddleMe (size L) even though he was almost 2 lbs lighter than the product recommends. The length is great, but as anticipated, he could get out of it easily since he's not yet 15 lbs. So..... I sewed on a couple of 4 inch strips of Velcro to extend the wrapping closure area. Now I can wrap him up tight enough so he can't wiggle out and his legs have plenty of room to grow.
I gave 4 stars because it would be nice if the transition from the S/M size to Large was more seamless. Ideally, by the time a baby outgrows one size (whether it be because of weight or length) they should be able to move into the next size.

Much quicker than Miracle Blanket,

This is a good transition swaddle from the miracle blanket. My son hates being hot, so we use this during his daytime naps.... Even though it is not as tight as the miracle blanket, it gets the job done. The velcro is ok, but it is sorta' big, and not long enough. My son is 2 months, 13 lbs., and he seems a little loose in it. I wish it came in a longer length so that I could use this for a while. It says that u can use it until 22 lbs., but that must be for a squatty short baby :)
At night, I use a fleece sleeping bag, and swaddle his arms with the miracle blanket. Since he sleeps much longer at night, I want him to be able to move somewhat. So that miracle blanket may be too short, but can be used with a sleeping bag. PROS: longer length quick velcro wrapping velcro in 2 different placement easier to put on and take off nice thin material *swaddle design holds arms separately; similar to miracle blanket CONS: not long enough made for fat babies velcro pieces need to be bigger **It gets the job done.

This swaddle is very soft and enough layer if your house isn't too cold. We also put a blanket on our baby from the belly down over the swaddle when it was cold. This was really the only swaddle I could find that fit an older baby. We used the Miracle Blanket for months, and after he grew out of that, we switched to this one. My son wanted to be swaddled until he was 8 months. This swaddle was a good transition swaddle for him, because we could wrap it loosely and let him break his arms out as he got older. This helped him transition to no swaddle at all. I definitely recommend this product. It would be good for summer in warm climates too where you want to swaddle but are concerned about overheating.

My son grew up from size small and I bought this large organic cotton SwaddleMe and like it better than regular one-is more soft and stretchy. SwaddleMe works great for us, he knows it's a sleep time and falls asleep immediately after feeding in it. Highly recommended.
As for sizing my 7 week old son is about 11.5 lb and 22 inches and Large fits great and there is still room for him for upcoming weeks.

This SwaddleMe is amazing! My grandson loves the snug fit - it is close but not restricting. He is able to move around like he wants to even pulling his arms free. But it helps him not to jump in his sleep, waking himself up. A better sleep is had - by ALL! I just wish I'd thought of it.

REVIEW (AND STAR RATING) IS FOR SELLER, NOT FOR THE PRODUCT. I ordered the Kiddopotamus SwaddleMe Organic 100% Cotton Knit in size Large, color Natural. My son had been using the exact same SwaddleMe in the smaller size for newborn babies. The smaller size was our favorite swaddle of all the ones we tried. Since my son can only sleep swaddled in his SwaddleMe, we needed another one in a larger size as soon as possible. Thank goodness for Amazon Prime, right? This time, however, we were let down. Instead of receiving what we ordered, we got the Summer SwaddlePod in size Newborn. Not only is it the wrong product (SwaddlePod instead of SwaddleMe), it is the wrong size, so we can't even use it in our pinch. Take caution when ordering through this seller. It's also worth noting that I didn't get a fantastic price, and only ordered through Amazon to save the hassle of driving to the store with a baby and small child it get what I needed.
