Product Description

Product Description
Kids Place is an app launcher with parental controls & child lock. Kids Place prevents children from downloading new apps, making phone calls, texting or performing other actions that can cost you money. It also protects your personal information when kids are using your phone, kindle fire, or tablet by restricting them to apps you approve. Includes convenience features for parents such as auto app restart, useful for small kids who accidentally exit launched apps. Kids Place allows for fun time for kids and free time for parents when they play on your device. Compatible with Kindle Free Time.

Features:
+ Custom home screen displays only apps that parents have authorized
+ Can prevent children from buying or downloading new apps
+ Capable of blocking incoming calls when Kids Home is running
+ Capable of disabling all wireless signals while Kids Home is running to avoid exposure to cell phone, wifi and Bluetooth radiation
+ Can restarts apps accidentally stopped by small children, allowing parents to stay focused on their own tasks.
+ Add custom wallpaper to customize your child’s experience while in Kids Place
+ Timer feature to lock Kids Place after specified amount of time.
+ Appropriate for children of all ages - babies, toddlers, even teenagers

In this Parental Control app, Home; Back; Search and Call buttons are locked so that kid cannot get out of the Kids Place or make phone calls.

Permission Explanations:
+ Internet Access/ Network State: Used only for Google Analytics library. Very minimal data transferred.
+ Phone Call – Only to detect incoming phone calls. We do make any calls form the app or read any phone data.
+ Global System/Tools Settings - For wireless communications disable (airplane mode) if selected in setting; enforcing app locking; locking on restart (currently disabled)
+ Kill Background Process – Used to stop apps from launching Marketplace when Marketplace setting is turned on.

Other Notes:
+ You will have to set a “pin” when you first use the app and it is required to exit out of the app
+ If your phone is restarted while Kids Place is running Kids Place will not restart. This is deliberately done so that in case you ever forget your pin, you can just restart the phone clear the app data from the phone's 'Manage Applications' screen. The phone's login pin would prevent a child from entering your phone after a restart so make sure your phone pin is set.
+ Kids Place has been confirmed to work with other popular kids apps like:
Talking Tom, Angry Birds, Flying Penguin, Ant Smasher, Kids Doodle, Toddler Lock, Kid Mode, MatchUp,,Baby Rattle, Bunny Shooter Free Game, Kids Paint Free, Talking Panda, Kids Connect the Dots, Kids Shapes, Kid Coloring, POPOPOPOON, Cut the Rope,Kids Shape Puzzle,Fruit Ninja Free,Kid Paint, etc.

Amazon's Kindle Fire is a great value at $199, but there have been some concerns expressed within the Kindle community. Three common issues:

* The Kindle Fire's Carousel displays all of the books in your archives, and recent websites visited (although you can remove the latter). That can be awkward when someone else wants to see the device, and makes for a very busy screen

* The Kindle Fire doesn't have a built-in way to limit purchases (except for in-app purchases)

* The Kindle Fire doesn't have a built-in way to turn off web-browsing, which is a concern for some parents and other legal guardians

Kids Place resolves all three of these issues.

The app lets you create a new "homescreen", and control what apps are on it. You can also turn off web browsing (which also prevents purchasing). Access to unauthorized apps is controlled by a user-created PIN (Personal Identification Number).

I did have a few navigation quibbles, but they were far outweighed by the value of this app.

Parents will appreciate the options it gives them.

Everyone will enjoy being able to open to a clean screen with just the things they want displayed.

If you own a Kindle Fire, this is an essential app...whether or not you have kids using the device.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for sharing my Fire with the family December 11, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase
I don't know how anybody could rate this app negatively. It does exactly what it claims to, and does it well. I had been disappointed by the lack of parental controls on the Kindle Fire; this app allows my daughter play games without becoming too curious and messing with other apps and settings. Thank you!
*Edit* I also wanted to comment on the concern of shutting down the Fire to bypass the child lock. Enabling the password feature on your Fire will prevent unauthorized access, so I recommend the use of this feature in conjunction with the application.

4.0 out of 5 stars Locks Down Kindle Fire for Little Kids December 8, 2011
The application does a good job locking down specific apps for kids, but unfortunately if the device is turned off and on it is bypassed, you have to actually load the Kid's Place app for it to be active and restrict the Android device to specific apps. This is great if you own an Android device like a Kindle Fire and pass it to your young kid to play with for an hour without worry, but if you bought your kids a Kindle Fire it is too easy to just turn device off and on and bypass the app altogether.

4.0 out of 5 stars love the timet
Easy to use. Love being able to put a timer on & select which apps the kids can use. Haven't figured out how to make multiple logins like advertised or change app picture.

Keep with the Kindle Free Time that comes with the Kindle. This one did not work for me on the Kindle Fire HD.

Parental Controls Kindle Fire (NOT HD)
If you find out, let me know. I am looking for a parental control for time management since this is my daughter's pad and the only thing she really has a problem with (for now) is not sneaking it into her room to play games or watch Netflix all night. I tried Net Nanny (no time management) and... Read more

Using Kindle app with Kindle Fird
At the moment the Fire doesn't offer a clean way of accessing your books from within Kids Place, however the following method allows you to read books using the Fire Launcher while Kids Place app protection is still enabled:
