Easy to put together and very durable, bright colors go with boys or girls (we have 2 yr olds, one of each) and holds more books than you'd think. Open top shelf allows for those tall kids books that do not seem to fit in other shelves. definitely worth the money. Shelves good height for toddlers and preschoolers. Rounded edges minimize head-bonking potential. Slightly angled downward to the back of the shelf to keep books from falling out.

I bought this for my son when he was a year old and it has been perfect for his toys and books. He had a taller shelf before that and I always worried that he would knock it over, but I have no such worries with this one. This one is the perfect height for a small child and it's absolutely adorable. It was easy to put together and I feel that it is sturdily constructed. I certainly never worry about it breaking. I am so pleased that we bought this shelf and I would recommend it to anyone who has a young child.

My husband and I are impressed with this purchase. The wood is hard and sturdy and the paint job is flawless. It put together easily and is very cute. We are very happy with the price vs the quality we got.

I purchased the Primary Color Puzzle shelf for my son's room to house small toys and books and LOVED it so much that I ordered a 2nd one. It comes unassembled but requires a minimal amount of effort and time to put it together. I was very suprised at how sturdy it actually is and it is designed in such a way that the pieces actually lock together when you assemble it. There is no possibility of it coming apart if a child attempted to climb on it. The colors are very vibrant and it is so well made that it could potentially last many years. I would highly recommend the Puzzle Book Shelf for any child's room. You won't be disappointed!

This bookcase is a great buy! It came in a very timely manner. I was worried about how stable it would be because i purchased it for my 2 year old son. But it is strong and seems very durable. He absolutely loves it and it would look great in any themed room. i would definately recommend this for any child. Some of the reviews talked about a foul wood or paint smell... but i didnt experience any of that. Overall a great purchase for the price!!!

I mixed up the colors (sides and shelf don't match) to create a unique look. Had fun, easy time putting it together (like a puzzle). Nice, solid pieces.

My wife and I bought this bookcase for our 21 month old son. It is perfect. We looked everywhere, and most costing this little were made of cheap pressboard; office furniture type stuff.

This is sturdy, "cute" (perfect for boy or girl), holds lots of stuff (not just books) and if you want, you could make 3 one shelf racks out of it, or 1 two shelf rack and another single rack, etc.

I bought this shelf at a local Costco warehouse, but returned it within the first week. Main reasons:

1) The shelf is made of what looks like compressed recycled paper (papier-mache type of board, not wood, not even particle board) It cracks very easily as you tighten the bolts during assembly. I have assembled a lot of furniture, so I know NOT to overtighten bolts.

2) I don't know what kind of paint they use, but I think the paint has very high VOC content because it smells really, really bad. Imagine leaving a 1-gallon can of acetone fully open in the middle of your kid's bedroom. That is roughly what this shelf smells like.

I returned this shelf within a week, primarily because we have not been able to get rid of the smell even after leaving the shelf outside for a few days (we live in California). Instead of suspicious Kidkraft stuff, we picked up some nice tables from WildZoo (via Amazon) and we highly recommend their grade school desk with hutch! (skip their pre-school desk, unless your kid is really tiny)

I purchased this bookshelf at a local store and noticed a strong chemical odor as soon as I opened the box. I assembled the bookshelf after letting the parts "air out" in the garage for 5 days and placed it in my daughters bedroom. After two hours, my daughters room smelled really bad.

I'm returning the bookshelf because I don't believe products should emit so many fumes and I'm concerned about my daughter inhaling potentially toxic fumes while she sleeps.

I hope all the boxes don't have the same problem.

Otherwise the instructions are clear and the bookshelf is easy to assemble, so I'll give it two stars.

The shelf is very sturdy and can be loaded with tons of book without showing the slightest hint of sagging. The colors are vibrant and took my husband a short time to put together. We love it.
