4.0 out of 5 stars Great for younger kids. Not as bad as the other reviews.
I bought this for my kid on his 4th birthday. He, his 5 yr old brother, and 2 year old sister love it. The voice level was reasonably clear as long as you didn't turn the volume all the way up and yell in which case it was muffled, but I think that's what to expect with any toy microphone which is not studio quality. The flashing lights were fun and interesting. The...

2.0 out of 5 stars Not terribly durable
Although the electronics work fine, the bracket that holds the microphone is not very sturdy; it barely lasted through the evening of my son's birthday.

1.0 out of 5 stars Microphone barely functional, October 27, 2008

We bought this toy and found that the microphone wasn't really loud enough to be heard over the music. You basically couldn't hear it at all unless the child placed it on their lips and then it becomes one of those toy's that you don't really want to have kids sharing. After 1 day the microphone stopped working completely.

Another annoying thing was that the preprogramed music played too fast for the kids to sing along. By the way the music level was adequate, just not the microphone.

Nice idea but very poor design.

I bought this mic for my almost 3 year old that loves to make concerts. It has not worked since I opened it. The light goes off and on and there is no consistent sound that comes out of it.

This item was purchased for a 7 yr. old boy. The pre-recorded songs were for a younger age child than most current 7 yr. olds. The play item was fun for a while, but unfortunately the stand would fall apart too easily when the kids were playing with it. The plastic tubing and base just didn't hold up to "kid use". A sturdier material that could snap together or be screwed together would make the mic and stand last longer. It would also be more fun for the chhildren if the songs were more up-to-date, yet "kid appropriate".

The flashing lights were fun and interesting. The other reviewers had mentioned the poor quality/durability of the stand. It does easily separate into pieces, however it's pretty sturdy standing up and after a few months of taking it apart and putting it back together, which my kids really like to do for some reason, it hasn't yet broken. All in all, for the price I think it was a good purchase and one that your kids would enjoy if they like to sing and perform in front of others.

Most of the reviews state it didn't work, I figured that was just one or two, but mine was broken too! My neice still enjoyed playing with it - but not worth the money for a broken product. TERRIBLE
