I bought this for my 2 year old daughter as a birthday present. She loves farm animal toys and this is probably the cutest one yet. Three egg/chicks fit inside the chicken's body and when pulled will fall out, one at a time. As they fall out the back, you hear peeping noises. The hen makes very realistic sounding clucking noises when you pull it and when you press her head. The cord is definitely long enough because that is one of my pet peeves about kid's pull toys. My only complaint and it's no big deal, is that the chicken is a bit heavier in the back, so when you start to pull it, sometimes it will tip backwards onto its tail, but it usually will tilt forwards back into position if you keep pulling the cord.

I was hesitant to purchase this because of the previous reviews. However, I'm very happy that I did. My 4 year old wanted a toy chicken that laid eggs, and well - where else could I find one but Amazon.

The string is longer than 6 inches as stated in previous reviews. Sometimes the eggs fall out right and sometimes they fall out all together. It all depends on how you pull your chicken.

After seeing Henrietta in a few different magazines for top toys of the year we thought it would be fun to have for christmas. After opening it we discovered some of the same issues as other people have posted. She is very cheaply made and the front and back doors where the chicks go in and come out don't close properly allowing them to fall out. Our pull string was plenty long so I am not sure why some people are having issues with it being too short, unless the makers are not making them all the same. It was way longer than 6 inches! The trouble we had with the chicks was either 2 of the 3 dumped out right when it was pulled and the 3rd would never come out. Or, it took 10 minutes of pulling her around the house before anything would happen. Very frustrating for a 2 year old patiently waiting for the chicks. Not sure how the timing was supposed to work but it was never right and we took it back first thing. Don't waste your time buying and returning it. Not worth [...]!!

My children (2 and 4) LOVE this chicken! The string looks just like the picture (a little over 2') and is long enough for both kids to pull her along. She makes the cutest noises and aside from pulling, just the put-and-take factor of putting the chicks into the hen and watching them pop out the back (with a peep peep) after they are dropped in has given my children a lot of enjoyment. The doors do come off but they pop back on easily. My older child likes to disassemble her and put the doors back on. Overall, I have no complaints about this toy except I wish we had another one so they'd stop fighting over it. Luckily there are three chicks to share. My kids highly recommend this adorable hen and her babies!

I bought this for my 14 month old daughter. Unlike other posters I did not see any problem with the length of the string. She can pull the Henrietta along just fine without bending over. She loves to put the little eggs in the hens belly. The problem we've had is that when she puts them in the front they fall out the back (even when the door is closed). So it didn't quite work as well as I had hoped. But the hen is cute & not horribly loud or annoying like some of her other toys.

This Henrietta the Pull Along Hen has some problems. First of all the cord is waaaaay too long so a child could actually find themselves in a dangerous situation if they were to wrap it around their necks. It does release eggs from its buttocks region but it honestly doesn't offer kids that much fun. It's a toy that will get boring really fast. I say it's a toy you should avoid for your kids for the reasons I mention above.

The sounds of clucking and cheeping are the best part of this toy. Parts of this toy such as the door to put the chicks in the hen feel very flimsy. I am afraid it will not stand up to a enthusiastic one year old!

First of all, this hen pull toy comes with a SIX INCH string. One other reviewer said the string was plenty long for her child. Um ... she must be the mother to an elf. Or, she's related to the seller. There is NO WAY this string is long enough to call it a "pull toy". In fact -- the photograph shown for this item is a complete lie/misrepresentation of the actual size/product. I am telling you -- it's six inches! The manufacturer must have had a panic attack about possible strangulation lawsuits or something and cut the strings down to nothing. You will absolutely have to tie an old shoe string/twine/yarn onto this to be a pull toy -- so just be aware of that fact if you purchase it. Second, the eggs DUMP right out of the hen's butt all at once THE SECOND YOU LOAD THEM -- they don't plop out one at a time as the hen is pulled along (which is what you'd expect per the description). It's like the hen has diarrhea! This has got to be the WORST toy I have ever purchased or seen. Beyond that, it doesn't come with batteries. This hen is getting a one-way ticket back to the coup, or in other words, WE ARE RETURNING IT! We'll buy another Melissa and Doug pull toy. My daughter has the frog from Melissa and Doug and it has been wonderful.
