Inchworm is a great, no batteries required toy. Nothing on it blinks, or talks or needs a volume adjustment. Inchworm moves fast, and can easily transition from carpeted to hard flooring (and back). The wheels are large with rubber grips, and have cute little beads that quietly clatter when spun, keeping a baby's attention even if he can't make the toy go by himself. My daughter loved watching inchworm fly across the floor when she was little, and loved making it go even more (at about 15 months old).

The only negative (and why it got 4 stars instead of 5) is that it can be broken if you pull it backwords. My daughter did this and I actually heard something inside pop. Now it's just a push toy. But she still loves racing it down the hallway to me.

My son received this for his 1st birthday and absolutely loves it. At this point he just shakes it and pushes it around (even backwards... I read in another review that caused theirs to break, but we have had no problems). It's fun for my kids to play with together(my 4 year old likes to hear him laugh when she runs it into him lol)and easy on mommy's ears. :)

We REALLY love this toy and I would highly recommend it!

This inchworm can be made to roll by just pushing it or by pushing down on the hump on its back. The latter method will make it pick up quite a bit of speed on a hardwood floor!! The best detail is the domed wheels with teeny weeny balls inside and a clear cover, so that baby can see them go move as the wheels turn. I introduced this at approximately 3 months of age. Baby loves to press down on it and lift it off the floor to see the wheels turn (and the beads shake) really fast. As parents, we love that it does not require batteries!! Oh, and apparently the antennae are really good to chew.

This is really nicely made, and has a great mix of qualities to keep a kid's attention.

I found this to be a little "old" for my particular 9-month-old, so I wanted to share some detail for you to decide if it's right for your little one.

Two actions are required for a baby use it:

1) Arm strength and coordination: You need to be able to compress the toy and push down to the ground, so the worm straightens out. This winds it up, so when you release it, it rolls away from you.

2) Ability and attention span to go get it and do it again. We found that one compression for this would move it about 5 feet on a high-friction shaggy carpet, 12 feet on a dense flat carpet, and about 25 feet on a wood floor.

Our baby wasn't able to do either of those things just yet (push it down or crawl) so we weren't able to use it to the fullest, but an older baby could, for sure.

Mostly, we moved it around for her. She delighted when we would aim it so it would run into her, and she would pick it up and inspect it when it arrived. The clear wheels have rattling beads inside them so they're interesting to look at when they are spinning.

I think it would be best for a really active baby, a fast crawler who likes to push things and move them around. It's also best used in a room where the toy will be easily accessible, as you need some space to play with it fully, again and again.

Really like this toy and I think it will be good motivation for my 9mo to start crawling. He can't really press it down at this age/or realize he can make it go, but sure he will figure it out. Does not work really great on carpet, but does go well on the tile floor.

We saw this at a baby school my wife and I were auditing and my son immediately went for the inchworm and played with it over and over. I found it at Amazon and ordered it right away. Fairly priced, it arrived on time. It's sturdy and colorful, and isn't scary like some other motion toys. We've had the inchworm for 2 months now and it has been my son's favorite toy since we opened it. He still isn't able to press down on the top to make it go himself, but that day is coming. Highly recommended.

My seven month old son loves this Inchworm! He's not old enough to operate it yet so I push it down, sending it right into him and he cracks up! It goes really fast and we race it against one of his pull back cars. I was really surprised that it's as much fun as it is! We love it! Don't hesitate!

I purchased for my 1 year old grandaughter. What a wonderful, basic toy to entertain young children. The only complaint is that it is a bit hard for a child her age to press down. I feel sure she will enjoy it much more when she gets older. Works well on both carpet and hard wood flooring.

We got this as a first birthday gift for my first child, pulled out again five years later for my second. She's now 20 months old and has recently taken a great interest in this inchworm. She can make it go by herself, scoot after it, and turn it around and begin again. Very easy to entertain oneself with this! Also great for sibling interaction - my older child gets the inchworm going, and my younger goes to retrieve. Lots of laughs with this toy!

My 1 year old daughter hasn't really mastered the use of this toy. I would recommend it to older toddlers that enjoy cars or things that roll. The push mechanism seems to be too difficult to use for a younger baby. It does roll quite far when pushed down but I do think it is overpriced for a toy that seems to be made of cheaper plastic. Overall- not sure if I would purchase this again if given the choice, but if your child loves rolling toys they will probably love this.
