Discover the revolutionary way to harness the brain's capacity to heal itself

Supported by the latest brain research, The Anat Baniel Method uses simple, gentle movements and focus to help any child, who has been diagnosed with autism, Asperger's Syndrome, ADHD, Cerebral Palsy or other developmental disorders.

In this supportive and hands-on book, Anat Baniel guides parents through the nine essentials of the method, each one designed to harness the brain's capacity to heal itself -- with remarkable and sometimes immediate results.

By shifting the focus to connecting rather than "fixing," this powerful yet simple method helps both children and parents to de- stress, focus, and grow. Most of all, the it helps all children maximize their potential, no matter what their diagnosis.

- Harvey Karp, MD, creator of the DVD/book The Happiest Toddler on the Block

“Kids Beyond Limits gives parents and others who care for special children new hope and a new sense of possibilities."
(Arianna Huffington, AOL Huffington Post Media Group )

"This accessible, insightful, practical book for parents of children with special needs will profoundly deepen their ability to help their children improve....Anat Baniel is a master clinician for children with special needs. The stories presented here are not exaggerations; they are triumphs from which most parents of children with special needs will surely benefit.”
(Norman Doidge, MD, author of The Brain That Changes Itself )

“I have observed Anat’s work with severely challenged individuals over a period of more than two decades, and have witnessed transformations that are simply stunning. My hope is that the Anat Baniel Method will reach the greatest possible audience and that it will become a part of academic teaching, training and research programs in rehabilitation medicine and in physical therapy, and the sooner, the better.”
(Dr. Daniel Graupe, University of Illinois, Chicago )

“Anat’s work with children is magical. She’s their brain whisperer. This hugely important work will free special needs children and their parents from fear and limitation moving them into a world of new possibilities and joy.”

5.0 out of 5 stars The Anat Baniel Method - Hope and Transformation March 27, 2012
Format:Paperback
When your child feels loved, accepted, and safe, her brain has the opportunity to turn into a powerful learning machine. ~ pg. 93

Imagine being an English speaking child who was put into a school where they were only taught in a foreign language. Imagine not understanding anything and feeling completely frustrated. How would you survive and learn? Well this happened to me and my parents were told that the school was bilingual. It wasn't! So in some way I understand the emotional and mental pain a child goes through when they can't understand what is going on around them even though they might be very smart. Luckily after a few years my parents took me out of this school and put me back in an English school. But the damage had been done and it took me years to recover.

That is why after reading this book I realized how important it is to get help early when a child is struggling. This book explains the Anat Baniel Method and how it can help children with special needs. The stories in this book are amazing and inspirational. Anat Baniel definitely has a gift and she helps children all over the world who struggle with autism, brain damage, sensory integration disorder, cerebal palsy, ADHD and other illnesses which cause development delays.

In the stories she tells she explains how to creatively help children reconnect with their brains and she does this with simple games anyone could play with their child. She also explains how touch can awaken attentioning abilities. She believes you should connect with your child in a meaningful way instead of trying to fix the child. She has interesting methods that really work to help children become more aware of their bodies so they can learn to walk or do anything that they seem incapable of doing that other children their age are doing. I especially appreciated the section on learning to be enthusiastic about even the small progress a child makes. These methods work and as Anat says: "Past struggles and suffering will be replaced with delight and discovery."

I can highly recommend this book to parents, teachers, therapists and anyone who works with children on a daily basis.

5.0 out of 5 stars Breakthroughs for Children with Special Needs March 28, 2012
Format:Paperback
I first heard about Anat Baniel's work through a friend whose child was born with cerebral palsy. Baniel's work was extraordinarily helpful during my little friend's challenging early development. Although my friends moved to another state, my interest in Ms. Baniel's work continued. As it turns out, in the 30 plus years of her practice Baniel has worked with thousands of children who have special needs. The surprise of this book is that the work she's been doing for over three decades is straight-forward enough for most parents and their kids can bring into the present routines of their daily lives. Also, it is totally aligned with cutting edge brain science that's only now coming to the public's attention. We are learning so much about what really goes on in our brains when we are learning even our most basic abilities such as walking and talking, and these discoveries change how we teach and what we can do for children with special needs--as well as children who have no special challenges! The science that Ms. Baniel has included as part of this book uses everyday language, examples and exercises to shed new light on how our brains work, while focusing on what we can do as parents and caregivers to help our children with special needs to overcome their challenges and thrive.

Practical and easy to read, this book presents new ways of breaking through what experts used to think were "absolute" mental and physical limitations. If you're a parent with a special needs child, get this book for sure. It is rich in excellent self-help material that can make your own life much easier as you help your child expand his or her abilities.

From what I've seen with my own eyes, this work is miraculous, but not in a "woo-woo," wave my hands over your body way, that is, it is scientifically-based, and doable by most readers, no matter what your present schedule or routine. In some cases just a slight "change of mind" can help the child make connections in her brain that allows her to do with ease what seemed impossible moments or days before.

The author's first book, Move into Life: The Nine Essentials for Lifelong Vitality, is aimed at adults, particularly those of us who are over 40. It's been tremendously helpful to me following a major surgery. Between the two books, Kids Beyond Limits: The Anat Baniel Method for Awakening the Brain and Transforming the Life of Your Child With Special Needs is definitely the one to get if you have a special needs child in your family. (In the interest of full disclosure: I was an editorial assistant for this book. However, I have no vested interest in the book except my conviction that it can help the millions of children who have special challenges and that there really is nothing out there to compare with it. Write to my Amazon Authors website if you have any questions or comments.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Understanding How We Learn March 27, 2012
Format:Paperback
This amazing book illuminates how we learn. It is for all of us - certainly a necessity for parents of young children, but, really, for anyone who wants to better understand how our brains develop, how we learn patterns of behavior and movement, and how resilient we are when we need to re-learn. Anat Baniel's profound understanding of our bodies animates every page, and her love of people is clear with each personal (and inspirational) story. I expected to enjoy the book, but found myself carried away by this page-turner. The book has changed the way I look at my own brain and the way I move through my day. Couldn't recommend it more highly.
