Good book but to little clear pictures of the exercises.,

I think Reggie did a great job when it comes to creativity what the exercises are conserned. The lack of pictures in the book is a shame and those who are present don't say much. It's nice to have an example to show to your students. Maybe something for the future.

Being a teacher of students with severe handicaps and a fan of tennis, I have found Mr. Vasquez's book to be revolutionary! His book includes all styles of learning modalities and it reaches out to all children. I have used and adapted Mr. Vasquez's games with my students. I am very excited to tell you that I have seen results with students that, in the past, did not respond to traditional methods of sensory stimulation! Through the use of this text, I have been able to reach those students!! Thank you Mr. Vasquez for a very good book. And please if you are a fellow educator, I HIGHLY recommend you take the time to read this book!!!!!
Sincerely,
Laura Mageary, Woodland Hills, California.

An ingenious mix of tennis fundamentals with games for kids.,

Finally, a book that links an understanding of children's learning needs with a world-class knowledge of tennis fundamentals! As someone who has experienced the difficulties of working with children, I appreciate the inclusion of a multitude of "attention-grabbing" - "easy to understand" games. As a student of tennis, I marvel at Reggie's ability to cleverly incorporate sound tennis fundamentals in activities that are sure to please both teachers and students. A wonderful book!

The games are too complicated and not very much fun. Buy a couple of water guns and teach children the lines, shots, and make them run and the kids would like it so much more. Not a good choice for individual lessons.

Average book is creative but not highly learning-oriented,

Reggie has written a creative book with games you may not have heard of (since they are probably not played anywhere much at all except with his students). You could make games on your own, some better and some worse. Unfortunately, this book doesn't really include many teaching or sensible games that are frequently played elsewhere. There are also better (more sensible and more fun) games in several other books. But few books for kids emphasize fun and creativity. There should be some learning theory outlined so readers understand how children develop and interact. There are no diagrams but there are cartoons which don't give enough information on court set-up, etc. Reggie should consult with more teaching pros on better games, etc. Other books produced by the USPTA and USPTR (usptr.org and uspta.org) are superior in creativity, drawings, etc - if you can get them. Also Joe Dinoffer (oncourtoffcourt.com) produces some superior (although can be costly for what you get) videos. Check websites. I am a highly experienced tennis pro who like Reggie have spoken at many international conferences. This book is worthwhile to teaching pros who want some creativity and inspiration. Parents may find this useful but not for teaching. Still kids should have fun which is the message here!

What a great idea! Finally a tool that I can use to keep my kids off the streets and into a different kind of court. The rough draft I was fortunate enough to glance at was given to me by a tennis buff at my club. To bad for him he'll have to get his own copy. To the author: Any Video Ideas??
