This review is from: Kids in the Cockpit: A pilot book to safe and happy sailing with children (Paperback)
This book has some great ideas and lots of specific suggestions for those planning to sail with kids or raise kids on a cruising boat. My wife and I are expecting our first and we do not want to give up sailing as a result of the new addtion. We bought several books with this theme to look for any and all advise from those who have been there. The authur has certainly been there.

However, there was a bit of a language barrier for me since the author is British and I am American. Although both our cultures speak English, we speak very different dialects. I found my reading slow going unless I was in front of a computer to look up words and phrases online (context is not always enought to impart meaning). Also, most of the sailing areas referenced are unfamiliar to me (British Isles, Mediterranean, West Africa, etc). Many of the product recommendations are also unfamiliar, as they are not available in my part of the world.

I did appreciate the author's matter-of-fact tone and enjoyed her dry sense of humor. Overall, Kids in the Cockpit is a worthwhile read but British sailors would undoubtedly rate it higher than I did, simply because they can relate more closely to the author.
