I was pleasantly surprised by this set of books after not finding anything for kids at the local music store. The fingering charts are good, and the format is excellent for teaching children to read music. Many of the songs are from kids morning shows, which gets them excited to learn. A recorder was included.

This is a great starter kit for the recorder. There are more instructive books out there for the complete novice, but these songs can be played by kids for sure. It does come with a recorder, but not necessarily the color pictured.

My little girl wanted instruments for Christmas this year. This recorder was perfect. The books are easy to read. She is 6 and has already taught herself several songs. Great price for hours of fun.

I bought this for my 5th grader who is homeschooled overseas. She loves the books because they're so easy to self-teach! In fact, she plays twice a week regularly now as part of her schooling. She takes pride in the fact that she can play it well enough to perform in front of other homeschoolers. The recorder, though, is not as rich-sounding as other better recorders, but still it's good for a beginner.

I bought this for myself. I am a kindergarten teacher and it's a great way to introduce music playing to the students:)
