I knew what I was buying when I bought this book. I wanted this book. This is a great book. There are 100's (? It seems like that at least) recipes for clay, paint, glue and more in there. It is an excellent book. I turn to this book whenever I need playdough. I turn to this book when I want to make paper mache and when I want to make fingerpaints, I turn to this book. This is a fantastic resource. Every kindergarten, pre-k teacher should have this on their personal shelves.

This is a great basic book of art and craft recipes. I checked it out of the library after seeing it at a friend's house, and now I want my own copy. Besides recipes, project ideas, notes on early art and art materials and bits of art history are included.

Some of the other reviewers have been a little unfair, slamming the book or the publisher for their not knowing what they had ordered. This book is not a knock off or trying to capitalize on something else. The original copyright of this book, as in the old library book I have in my hands, is 1995 -- which would keep it from being a knock off by the publisher or author. On top of that, if you go to the PBS website, and search for Kids' Concoctions, this is the book that shows up.

I bought this book thinking it was another book I saw on TV called "The Ultimate Book of Kid Concoctions". At first I was very dissapointed with the book because it didn't have the exciting secret toy store recipes like the book on TV, but after 3 weeks on our book shelf my kids have already made two projects and seem to be enjoying the book.

Hello, I am the author of the Kid Concoctions Book series and I think that this book series is wonderful! The fact that is has different projects than the Kid Concoctions series makes it a great book to own in addition to the Kid Concoctions Book series. Which book came first really doesen't matter, our first book was published in 1997 and was based on our Famous Kid Concoctions Video series that was released in 1989. Both book series are great rescources for parents and teachers. In fact, we would love to have the author of this series as a guest on our new national TV series. Happy Concocting!!

Every basic art recipe you've ever wanted is right here in one handbook. The neat thing is that although kids are given ideas for using the materials, they can use the materials they create in their own way. Note that this book was published prior to the "ultimate book" refered to in the other reviews. This one contains tons more recipes, crafts, and factoids.

Excellent for young and older kids as well as parents who tends to shy away from art project at home.

For all of you out there who thought you were buying the PBS book...can you read??! The authors are completely different! And each book on Amazon lists the author of each and every book. It's nobody's fault but your own that you purchased the wrong book...not the publisher, not the author, not Amazon.com. Don't blame other people for your own mistakes, and then write a bad review for a perfectly wonderful book. If you had been paying attention to the titles, you would also notice that they are NOT the same. Spend a little more time on PBS watching Read Between the Lions and you may not make the same mistake again.

I am about to order this book because I have others from the series and it looks great. I started to skim the reviews just to make sure it was going to be as good as all the other books I have from this publisher which are fantastic -- and I came across a bunch of angry reviews from people claiming this book to be a rip off!! :0

I have seen the PBS show these people are refering to - and it too is very good. However, I am very upset to see negative reviews of this book -- just because people *thought* they were ordering the PBS series book. The books they were looking for published in 2000+ The book the are *claiming* to be a *rip off* was published in 1998 -- and others in the series, long before that!!!

If you order this book, you will find excellent projects I am sure. It will not be the projects from the PBS show -- but that is NOT because this book is a rip off!

Don't be fooled. This book has a title very similar to The Ultimate Book of Kid Concocitons book I saw on PBS. I bought this book thinking it was the PBS book and was very upset. I'm sure I am not the only one making this mistake. The projects in this book are out dated and seem to be the same old things that have been around for years, Buyer beware! I would bet the publisher did this to trick people into buying there book.

This book never came but I was contacted first by the seller who thought my book had arrived. I was quickly issued a refund as they had no other copies. I appreciate their communication but I just wanted my book!
