Grade 1-4–Two books that will appeal to fans of imported cartoons and collectible card games like Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh! The design of both is standard fare for how-to-draw books–each page takes a character, then shows a step-by-step rendering starting with simple shapes and adding more detailed lines until the final figure is realized. Manga Shoujo is full of clean, bold colors and lines, but the presentation is somewhat rote. The character descriptions are fairly generic and seem to show only a superficial knowledge of the culture. Monsters! is more engaging, with many variations on the now-ubiquitous cute monster character. It is also one of the few manga drawing titles that is easily accessible to very young children; its nearly textless layout is perfect for budding artists. Thanks for taking a look at my books, and this "Author Bio." I'm a competent tennis player, who also enjoys playing computer chess while I'm watching TV at night (Hey, it prevents me from channel-surfing). I'm keenly interested in M-theory, although i have become skeptical of it of late, despite Brian's Green's full-body gushing... I love being with my family, and even my extremely evil dog, a Welsh Springer Spaniel named "Rusty." Oh, yes, he truly is that evil.

This is a beautiful form of Manga, focusing on friendship and loyalty. As a parent, I love this art form and take pleasure when my kids do as well. Indeed they love it and this book as furthered their appreciation. My kids and I have seen other similar books but this book by Christopher Hart is by far the best!

I am a huge shoujo fan and this is deppressing. The art in this book doesn't even LOOK like manga. Even a begginer can figure that out. I mean I showed this book to my friend who doesn't even like manga and she could even figure out that Hart is terrible at manga. Beggieners or advance stay away! Instead of wasteing your money on this dinky little 60 paged book try the how to draw manga series. You might accually LEARN how to draw real manga!

this was my very fiorst manga book. i didn;t know anything about manga and i really wish it would have givin alot more instrusction but it not horrid. but still the first one and iv'e gotton better though the years. oh adn now im in honors art soo well dunno...
