From School Library Journal
Grade 4-8-- Chock-full of ideas, this is an excellent choice for general reading as well as for science-fair project ideas and experiment suggestions. Markle briefly discusses many aspects of ecology and the environment including standard topics such as acid rain and ozone depletion. Also included are recycling, cleaning and purifying water and air, and trash disposal. Many of the activities and observations are within the reach of elementary students; whenever necessary, the author advises caution, care, and common sense. She proposes that children become involved in saving the Earth's primary resources and has an upbeat attitude about the future. Filled with black-and-white illustrations and diagrams, this is a most welcome addition to science collections. --Eva Elisabeth Von Ancken, Trinity Pawling Sch . , NY
