Great way to engage the kids,

This little gem helped make our trip to Italy worth every penny. The kids and grownups were engaged, counting winged lions, feeding pigeons, tasting espresso and saying "buongiorno" to get treasure hunt points. My 7 year old still remembers the 42 winged lions she spotted to win the treasure hunt. This is a great way to enrich the kids experience and make it memorable. I highly recommend this book and Treasure Hunt Florence for anyone traveling to Italy with kids.

Perfect book for the Kids!! Compact Size was key!!,

Our kids (we have a 8 and 11 year old) had a blast using Treasure Hunt Venice as their own guide to Venice. They were motivated to explore and the book was designed perfectly for kids. The idea of a scavenger hunt was exactly what Rick Steve's Venice 2006 book suggests you do to keep the kids interested in city.

Fabulous fun for kids --- and their parents,
This review is from: Kids Go Europe: Treasure Hunt Venice (Spiral-bound)
We used the Mouchawar's clever Treasure Hunt during a recent trip to Venice and the kids absolutely loved it. The kids studied the questions prior to our arrival (using a map to determine where in Venice would need to go to maximize their points) and pursued the treasure hunt with remarkable tenacity. In addition to asking for factual information, many of the questions require that the children reflect on what they see and articulate their impressions or ideas. Each outing became an adventure, and they learned a tremendous amount about Venice in the process. The format of the book makes it easy for each child to carry his own in a backpack or fanny pack. I wish we had similar guides for every vacation!

This book itself is a treasure! What a great idea: a child-targeted travel experience. Our son was so engaged in sightseeing and exploring. He had lots of fun with the hunts/questions. Even when we weren't on a specific search, he kept referring to the book so we had to keep it handy all the time. In fact, we all had fun with it.

Great book to get kids acitvely involved. Wish they had these for every city we visit!,

Venice is a walking city. This book gave my kids the incentive to take those long, lovely walks. They were eager to check off each treasure in the book, and so it got us though many pleasurable afternoons. We borrowed the "treasure" idea when we went to museums, buying postcards in the museum shop and having the kids hunt down the artworks. Worked like a charm! Wish they had these for every city we have visited!

We purchased this booklet - one for each child - in advance of our trip to Venice. This booklet is fantastic! A great way to get your children involved in seeing and learning about Venice. Our children (ages 9, 7, 5 and even 3) were kept happily occupied searching for winged lions and by the other activities in the book. We have also purchased and used the Florence version which is excellent as well. It's worth the price and the cost to make sure each child has their own copy!

Just returned from 3 weeks in Italy with my 9 year old daughter. Trying to maneuver in Rome was exhausting, juggling the guide books and the must-see things with the needs of children in the heat is not easy.
This was a wonderful book - it allowed my daughter to reach for a goal, while visiting Venice and not feeling as though she were being dragged around to boring sites. We changed the point value and rewards, as suggested by the authors, and she particularly enjoyed adding up her points at the end of every day. I also found that it made me focus more on the small things, as well, just walking around, counting lions and perusing the fish at the fish market were a joy...Venice is so crowded and can be unpleasant for little kids...I recommend this book to anyone planning a trip to Venice with children.

I took my 9 year old daughter to Venice for 4 days this fall and she clutched this tiny book the entire time. The clues were easy to follow and she got a lot of satisfaction from collecting the points for writing down the right answers.
We are going to London next year and would love to find something similar for that city. Fantastic idea. Great design. Kept her going even when she was tired.

Very good to have an incentive on a hot (35°C) day in Venice! The kids were very keen on earning points to have as much icecream as possible.

It is a bit early to jugde this book as we are not going until early summer. I can only compare it with the excellent book Things for Kids to Do in Rome. This is a lot shorter and much less information, however I do like the Treasure Hunt format.
