The "Making Memories" section is the one that sets the book apart from other activity books. It includes creating a memory book, a family tree, a relative map, and a family crest. Another neat idea is planning a stroll down memory lane to see the sights and neighborhood of a grandparent's youth. If traveling outdoors is out, the author suggests making a photo album, a calendar of family dates (e.g., birthdays, anniversaries, etc.), a cross-stitch embroidery sampler, or profile silhouettes. More common crafts include sachets, drying flowers, or making bird feeders. Directions for games such as yo-yo, jacks, marbles, and tangram pictures are included. A materials list and step-by-step instructions accompany the ideas. The unexciting, monochromatic drawings (in rust or pine green) are clear. A good choice for old-fashioned fun.
