Marcy Marxer is an excellent instuctor! She begins with teaching the child about the different sizes and types of guitars available. She moves on to explaining how to tune the guitar and goes through each chord with the child so they are able to tune. She involves the children in chord exercises and uses simple, well known children's songs in the lessons. I highly recommend this tape. My 9 year old has learned so much from this tape.

We are very impressed with Vol. I of Kid's Guitar, by Homespun Tapes. Mary Marxer is upbeat, cheery, and easy to track with. The set is colorful, and she goes slowly enough that the children can 'get it' but not too slowly. We will definitely be ordering Vol. 2 when we're finished learning all there is to master in this first DVD. Highy recommended for beginners, or those who need a refresher course!

I bought this as a gift for my 10 y/o daughter who really wants to learn how to play guitar. I was extremely disappointed. The exercises were difficult for beginners and the video is extremely annoying. The music is dated and the over all quality wasn't great. Low budget and not very effective.

As I teach guitar lessons, I picked up the Kids Guitar 1 and 2 DVDs by Marcy Marxer to develop some ideas about teaching guitar for young students. At the time, I had students ranging from 6 to 60 and while I was making very good progress with the teenagers and adults, I needed a better approach for the younger students. Teaching young guitarist presents a number of challenges, and these DVDs helped me so much. I really appreciate Marcy's efforts (and Homespun Tapes) to produce these DVDs. If you have a young guitarist in your household or if you are looking for ideas to teach younger students, then the Kids Guitar DVDs are a worthy investment. You'll learn chords and strum patterns, and you'll get right into playing some songs such as Skip To My Lou and Buffalo Gals. Highly recommended.

This DVD was hard for me to watch, by my 7 year old really could take this woman well. Very patient voice and very instructoinal. Highly recommended!

We received this item quickly and are really enjoying it!! It has great techniques for teaching children (and adults) how to play the guitar.
