5.0 out of 5 stars excellent resource!, May 16, 2002

This review is from: Kids Can Help Book (Mass Market Paperback)
With an infant and two preschool children, I was at a loss how to introduce them to service projects that they could actually do. I liked the idea of helping serve food at a homeless shelter, but they aren't big enough to help yet, and at their ages they would need my supervision so that I wouldn't be much help either! Lo and behold, the first item suggested in this little book was serving at a homeless shelter with the variation of making after-school snacks such as cookies for the children at the shelter, delivered once or twice a month. Now THAT I can do with my kids, and they can contribute substantially, not just stand around and watch me help! This book is a great resource for moms who want to get their kids involved, or for kids looking for ways to serve. It's written in a very kid-friendly fashion, with warnings where appropriate: with the suggestion of making bag lunches to pass out to homeless people on the streets comes an underlined warning for children never to do this without an adult.
