Not really for kids- seniors maybe, but not kids, March 14, 2008
This review is from: Kids Keyboard Googolboard 1 Large Color Keys USB/PS2 By Dsi (Personal Computers)
I was looking for good keyboards for the computer lab I am working on for the public school where I volunteer-- this looked good so I ordered it. You can see from the photos that it is nice and easy to locate the regular letters and numbers they will need: when it arrived, I opened the box, saw it, laughed, and put it back in the box... What I did not understand from the description, is that this is not a standard size keyboard, it is more of an Alice in Wonderland size keyboard= really big! Maybe I am missing something here, but little kids, have little hands, big keys don't help. Kids need to learn to type without looking at the keyboard, and if they learn on a non standard size keyboard, when they get home or to the library, they will need to learn again. Schools like ours have little rubber covers to cover up the printing on the keys, but of course they are for standard size/ spaced keys.
Now if you are a senior, and are learning the computer for the first time, and maybe you don't see the keys so well...and the colors give a little extra guidance - than this is a unique and excellent option, but not for kids... I ordered a much less expensive one from Califone, and it seems great- normal size, and even though it is a Windows keyboard, it works fine on Macs. http://www.amazon.com/First-Keyboard-Califone-Bright-Color/dp/B000EONVX0/ref=pd_bbs_sr_3?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1205558242&sr=8-3
