After learning how to make balloon animals at camp, Emily and Elizabeth set out to create the ultimate balloon twist book -- for kids, by kids, with every page in full-color photographs. They left out the complicated designs and twists that required big hands, keeping only the projects that were fun and simple to learn.

The book starts with seven-year-old Elizabeth's easiest balloon twists and works up to ten-year-old Emily's more advanced two and three-balloon creations. Included are suggestions on how to buy a pump and balloons, as well as warnings for noise-shy twisters who want to know when a part of the project needs extra care to avoid popping the balloon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book and gift! June 15, 2010
By Cami383
Format:Perfect Paperback
My 5 year old loves balloon animals and this was the perfect book for him to learn how to make them himself. We've had this book for about 6 months and it's still a big hit in our house. He often asks to give a copy of this book along with a set of balloons & pump as birthday gifts for his best friends. The kids always choose this as a favorite gift and the parents are impressed with the book and skills their children learn so quickly. Love this book for its colorful pages, detailed yet simple steps, age appropriate designs and the fun it brings every reader!

My 7 year old easily could follow the directions and pictures in this book. He was whipping out dogs and giraffes with ease in about 15 min. of practicing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Family Fun June 14, 2010
Format:Perfect Paperback
We bought this balloon book along with balloons and pumps for our niece and nephew last Christmas. The book and the balloon animals were a hit! The kids were entertained all afternoon, and we made almost every design in the book, as well as some variations. The instructions were simple and easy to follow, both for kids and adults alike. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a fun and simple activity for kids.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun for parents and kids! June 27, 2010

Format:Perfect Paperback
My youngest daughter received this book for her 5th birthday. It was and still is a hit! She and her older sister love any and all animal balloons, so to be able to learn to make them, or have Dad make them is especially fun! Sometimes I think Dad enjoys creating new animals as much, if not more, than the girls do! Our family highly recommends this book as a gift for kids and young at heart adults of all ages!

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice in concept but not many designs January 7, 2010
By Mama
Format:Perfect Paperback|Verified Purchase
The color photographs are very nice to demonstrate the step-by-step instructions. In fact, I wished many more balloon books used color photos instead of drawings. However, there are not very many designs. The dog, elephant and giraffes are all variations of the same design, so I wish there were a few more designs included to make this worth the $10 price tag.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book for kids January 6, 2011

This is my first book for making balloon animals. I'm 11 years old. It shows detailed pictures of kids making balloon animals so if they can do it, you can do it. The book shows different, easy steps. I also got the Qualtex balloons which were great and easy to use and didn't pop easily.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice first book for kids June 10, 2013
By Jamie B
Format:Perfect Paperback
After my rowdy 5-year-old was excited enough about a balloon twister to stand in line for 90 minutes to get his balloon, I checked out several books (and bought a couple) on balloon twisting. I would make this the first book I'd buy for kids who want to learn balloon twisting. What age? The authors are 8 & 10; the book is too advanced for a 5-year-old alone; but I'm guessing a 7-year-old may be able to use it independently. The Kids' Guide to Balloon Twisting (Edge Books) shows a similar number of steps per project, but they define lingo up front and use more compact descriptions. I think the wordier directions in this book would be more kid-friendly. However, the Kids' Guide has a couple more projects total, and a couple more that I find really cool. In summary, I think they're both good books. My favorites for detailed steps is Balloon Animals by Hsu-Flanders, and my favorite for lots of really cool projects is The Ultimate Balloon Book: 46 Projects to Blow Up, Bend & Twist by Shar Levine & Michael Ouchi.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cute Book for Kids May 13, 2012
Format:Perfect Paperback|Verified Purchase
This book was written for kids by kids. It's such a wonderful project. The photography was fantastic and the instructions are simple and easy to follow. I put this book into my 4th grade classroom reading center. The kids love it! It's a great opportunity for them to see what kids can do with their writing these days. The book is well done.

My daughter loves to make animal balloons but she didn't find this book to be very helpful. She thought it was more appriopriate for younger children.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not impressed
I bought this book for my 6 year old son. I felt it was flimsy for the money and the instructions weren't easy for him to follow. There also weren't that many things to make.

Nice book. By the end of the night we were able to make several of the balloon animals actually look like balloon animals. And we are not very crafty people! Read more

My grandkids hardly looked at the book when they received it with a large bag of twisty balloons. Instead they learned faster on YouTube!
