Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

You've never heard jokes so funny, goofy, and ridiculous as these! You'll start by giggling to yourself, but before you know it, you'll laugh out loud, long and hard. Riddles, knock-knocks--they're all here and you won't want to stop reading them. Just try to keep a straight face as you check out these hilarious jokes:
Why won't a leopard take a bath with you?
It doesn't want to come out spotless.

What do you call a dog who sleeps on top of your computer?
Browser.

How does the Man in the Moon eat soup?
With a Big Dipper.

Why didn't the skeleton go to the pajama party?
She had no body to go with.

More About the Author

Knock-knock. Who's there? ME. The book I most loved and read repeatedly was an anthology of college campus humor filled with satire, raucous poems, potty jokes and nonsense from over 65 college humor magazines. My 12-year-old Catholic brain knew instinctively to hide this book from my mother -- and the nuns. But I typed up the hilarious stuff and passed it around to my friends, who thought I was a hoot. And so marked the beginning of my career writing humor -- joke books, mainly, but also fiction. Whenever I visit schools, the first thing students request is "Tell us a joke." But I can't. I'm not a stand-up comedian. I can write punch lines, no problem, but I can't remember them!

My 6 year old is just getting into jokes and loves to tell them but doesn't quite understand how and often doesn't quite get the play on words in many jokes. This book has a ton of great, silly, simple jokes. Reading the jokes has helped her understanding of jokes and greatly expanded her repatore of jokes - thank goodness! Almost all are simple and short and easily remembered and retold by a 6 year old. I highly recommend this joke book for the younger set.

I wanted to love this book. My daughter is 6 and she is really into "learning" the jokes. Although there are some good ones (I highlighted them so I can read only those to her without bothering with the ones that are over her head or just dumb), there are also some not funny ones or the ones that fly over her head. The knock knock jokes in this book are just not that good. Maybe an older kid would get them but by than those jokes wouldn't be funny. I'm disappointed overall. I don't expect to like every single joke in a book but I found myself spending more time explaining and not enough time laughing with my daughter. If I found it in a brick and mortar store and flipped trough I wouldn't have bought it. Sample of a good joke: What do bakers read to their children at night? Bread time stories. Why are Toothfairies so smart? They gather lots of wisdom teeth. What program do cows watch on TV? Moo-vies. Example of a dumb (not funny joke): How do you know when there's a dinosaurus under your bed? YOur nose touches the ceiling. What happened to the wizard who brushed his teeth with the gun powder? He kept shooting his mouth off. What do cannibals eat for breakfast? Buttered host. We'll try the book again in a year or two and maybe we'll enjoy it more. I'm giving it 4 stars because maybe it's just us that don't have a sense of humor?

Kids' Silliest Jokes

My 4 year old started trying to tell jokes. Needless to say they weren't funny and didn't make sense. So I thought I would get a book of children's jokes for him to learn. Many of the jokes in this book go over his head. Maybe when he gets a little older he will get it. They are pretty silly. I'm pretty sure you will only laugh because it's your child telling the joke. But isn't that the kind of joke we all started out telling? Sure!

My grandson is nine years old and has expressed a desire to be a comedian, so I thought I'd support him by buying him a joke book. He liked it very much. I read it and thought it was perfectly appropriate for a young person his age. I'm glad I bought it. We are both enjoying memorizing the jokes and then springing them on the family.
