Jacqueline ("Jackie" nee Gilzow) Horsfall had a brainstorm late one night, lying in bed, listening to her young nephew chuckling over a joke book he was reading under the covers. Although she'd written hundreds of children's magazine pieces, the question of how to really entertain kids was solved: Kids love to laugh, and joke books provide the cheapest, most compact form of entertainment, with the added bonus of encouraging reading skills and wordplay.
