Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

Until now it has often been impossible to find any critical review for many children's video titles. Schecter fills this need, and he does so in fine fashion. Kidvid features over 250 alphabetically arranged entries, rating each title from one to four stars, and giving a good description of the tape, including warnings about violent, sexual, or sexist content. Schechter is intelligent and level-headed enough in his critiques to explain why he sometimes thinks a tape is worthwhile even if it is violent or has other shortcomings. Kidvid is aimed at parents, but will be helpful for anyone who deals with children's video. The list of titles available on video is growing at such a rate that periodic revisions of this book would appear to be a necessity, but in the meantime Kidvid is highly recommended for most public libraries.
