Lyrics of Original Billionaire"I wanna be a billionaire so fricking bad Buy all of the things I never had Uh, I wanna be on the cover of Forbes magazine Smiling next to Oprah and the Queen" Lyrics of the Kidz Bop Version "I wanna be a billionaire so VERY bad Buy all of the things I never had Uh, I wanna be on the cover of Forbes magazine Smiling next to Oprah and the Queen" Lyrics of Original Silgle Ladies "I got gloss on my lips, a man on my hips hold me tighter than my Dereon jeans acting up, drink in my cup I couldn't care less what you think I need no permission, did I mention Dont pay him any attention Cuz you had your turn But now you gonna learn What it really feels like to miss me" Lyrics of the Kidz Bop Version " " Yeah, they cut the whole verse out. I have a 10 year old, 8 year old, and a 5 year old. Now, this is more geared toward my 8 and 5 year old. They omit and or change violent or overly sexually suggestive lyrics to these pop songs so the kids can jam out worry free. It's meant for kids whose parents are trying to keep them from some of the negative elements in pop culture. Great CD, all of them actually.

Kidz Bop does it again! :),

This review is from: Kidz Bop 18 (Deluxe Edition) [+Video] [+Digital Booklet] (MP3 Download)
I'm not a kid, but I love this series. I've been collecting Kidz Bop albums for years. Every release makes me want more. Kidz Bop 18 is no exception. The sound quality is great, and the vocals are very interesting. The voices and setups are always changing, so it doesn't get boring. Here are my opinions for each song: 1. Telephone This was the initial song that drew me in. Sure, I wanted the other songs on the CD, but I REALLY wanted this one. In my personal opinion, the easy-to-hear vocals in this version are better than the more drowned-out vocals in the original version. I like to hear the words of a song without getting a headache from the bass and techno stuff. Things they changed: Original Artist: "And I cannot text you with a drink in hand-ay." Kidz Bop: "And I cannot text you when I'm going to dance-ay." OA: "I'm out in the club and I'm sippin that pub and you're not gonna reach my telephone." KB: "I'm out in the club and I'm eatin that grub and you're not gonna reach my telephone." This is great because kids love food, and they relate to it better. 2. Baby This song drives my family crazy, so I don't listen to it much, but to me, it's pretty good. Since the original was already written from the perspective of a kid, it becomes easier to make it kid friendly. The only thing they changed that I know of is the rap. They cut it out. I don't know why, because the original rap seemed pretty kid friendly. And they do have a designated rapper. But it's not a big deal for me because, like I said, I don't listen to it much. 3. California Gurls I really like this song. The vocals are great. The only thing I wish they did differently was the second verse. There isn't one in this version. I know it would've taken some work to edit, but I could easily think up a clean version of that verse. Why didn't they? Things they changed: OA: "Sippin Gin (sp?) and juice..." KB: "Sippin on my juice..." OA: "The boys break their necks tryin to catch a little sneak peak at us." KB: "The boys break their necks tryin to act a little crazy at us." (I kind of wish they didn't say "break their necks" in the kid version, but it's still better than the original.) OA: "Daisy Dukes, bakinis on top. Sun kissed skin so hot we'll melt your popsicles." KB: "Fine, fresh, fearce, we got it unlocked. Sun kissed beach so hot we'll melt your popsicles." (They say "fine, fresh, fearce" in the second part as well.) The second verse and rap were cut out of this song. 4. Hey, Soul Sister I like that this version isn't so brassy. I don't listen to it very often because it's kind of slow, but the words are sweet. Now, I don't know it well enough to tell you what they changed, but I'm sure they changed some things because it sounded different on the radio. 5. Do you remember? The Kidz Bop version of this song was featured on a Sears commercial. I like the soft vocals, but I don't listen to it very often because of its slowness. My family is big on bouncy music. But I sometimes like the soft songs for relaxation. 6. Naturally Though the vocals are kind of choppy in this song, my family and I really like the lyrics. It depicts love (and not the inappropriate kind) in a very majestic way. I would prefer to have Selena Gomez's version, though. They didn't change any words or anything. 7. Whataya Want from Me I LOVE this song! They did a good job immitating the feel of the song. The kids flow right through this one. And they took out that bad word we all don't want to hear. Things they changed: OA: "Oh, once upon a time, I didn't give a (...)" KB: "Oh, once upon a time, I didn't give a thing." OA: "Yeah, I'm a freak." KB: "Yeah, I'm a fool." I think that's it, but I may've missed something. 8. Nothin' on You I really like the vocals in the main chorus, but when the rap starts, it gets boring and repetitive. So if I listen to it, I don't usually make it past the first verse. But I think they did a great job with the singing. 9. Break Your Heart My sister and I both love this song. The Kidz Bop version doesn't have the little rap thing in the beginning, but that's all they changed. I think this song reflects some of the best of the Kidz Bop singers. This song suits them. 10. All the Right Moves This song kind of sounds like 80's mixed with modern music. It's also got some of the best vocals from Kidz Bop. If they changed anything, I'm not aware of it. But I don't hear this song very often on the radio, so I don't know. 11. Two is Better than One I don't listen to this one very much because it's slow, but when I do hear it, I'm impressed. I wish I could do the same thing to my voice that the little girl does in the main chorus. I don't know the words very well, so I don't know if they changed anything. 12. Evacuate the Dancefloor This is a dance song with such a strong bass. I LOVE it! They do a great job singing this song, and their harmony is great. Things they changed: OA: "Stop this beat is killing me." KB: "Stop this beat is moving me." OA: "Overdose" KB: "Overload" OA: "Watch me, I'm intoxicated." KB: "Watch me, I'm infatuated." I think I missed something.... 13. Billionaire I like the catchiness of this song, and the rap part is really cute. My family and I love to listen to this song together. I know they changed "Frickin" to "Very", but that's all. 14. Alejandro This song is so cool. It's got Spanish, English, techno, and drama. I like how Kidz Bop presented this song. My sister and I just LOVE it! Things they changed: No talking in the beginning OA: "Don't want a kiss, don't want a touch, just want my cigarett and (word I can't remember)" KB: "Don't wanna miss, don't want too much, just walk away from me and hush." OA: "But her boyfriend's like a dad, just like a dad." KB: "But her boyfriend's like a friend, just like a friend." 15. Breakeven I like the soft singing in this song. It's a good song when you're in the mood for it. There's only one thing they changed that I know of: OA: "Just prayin to a God that I don't believe in." KB: "Just prayin to a thing that I don't believe in." I like this because it seems like they're trying to avoid discouraging some religions. In the past, they've covered many Christian songs, and for them to also cut out something that kind of discourages belief in God is kind of cool. 16. Single Ladies I like the Chipettes version of this song better, but this one is special because it actually includes the bridge. The Chipettes version doesn't have the original bridge. However, Kidz Bop did cut out the second verse because basically every line was inappropriate. They would've had to change the whole verse to include it. Things they changed: OA: "I'm up on him, he's up on me, don't pay him any attention." KB: "I'm into him, he's into me, don't pay him any attention." OA: "Don't even matter that you see that he want it." KB: "Don't even matter that you see that he's into it." These next five songs are only included if you download the Deluxe eddition. They are NOT included if you buy the CD or download the regular version. 17. Falling for You This is a really cute song. The kids sound innocent and have the feeling of the song in their voices. I've never heard the real version, so I can't tell you what they changed, if anything. 18. One Day This is a cute cover. The kids kind of sing in an accent that they do pretty well considering. This song is very encouraging, and it almost has an African vibe to it. I'm not sure how, but it does to me. 19. Fifteen I have the original version to this song, and though this one is good, I kind of prefer the original. The only reason why is because in the bridge, Taylor Swift says something about Abigale giving everything to a boy who changed his mind, and they both cried. Well, Kidz Bop didn't include that part of the bridge in their version. That was kind of my favorite part, and to not have it in the Kidz Bop version is irritating. But I'm sure they had their reasons for cutting it out, so I won't complain. Besides that, the overall presentation is pretty good. Mostly the girls sing in this one, and they sound great. 20. Solo This is a fun song to sing along with. I like to practice singing high notes on this song. It's kind of sad, but I like it. The Kidz Bop version is pretty good, though there isn't the same auto-tune sound that the original had. But I still like it. 21. Not Myself Tonight This song is bouncy and fun. I love that part in the beginning where the girl says, "And I'm gonna WOOO!" And it echos. I don't know the original lyrics, but there were some words that were funny, cute, and sounded like they came from Kidz Bop. Like: "And if you don't like it, boo-hoo". There is a really cool sounding auto-tune part that I really like, too. So overall, this CD is great. I really like what the Kidz Bop Kids are doing. Creating kid friendly versions of songs is more than just changing the words. It's presenting it in a way that kids would like. These things include having kids sing the songs, creating fun vibes that aren't in the original songs, and making the songs sound grown-up even though they're not. Kids love to feel older than they really are. And Kidz Bop creates this setting in their music. I'd recommend this CD to: -Kids who want more grown up music than that toddler stuff -Kids who want to listen to famous songs but can't because they're inappropriate -People who want clean versions of songs and don't mind listening to children sing -Families who want to enjoy their favorite hits with the kiddos around -People who simply enjoy the sweet sound of children singing

This is a cute CD for younger girls.. I bought it for my 10-year old son but he only likes a couple songs out of it. The Cd is more for younger girls. He, however, loved KidzBop17. ..

My 6 yr old just got a CD player for her bedroom for Christmas. We were looking up CDs for her to purchase and I typed in Kidz Bop and was scrolling thru the songs. This one #18 had the best selection of songs she was familiar with. Bought it today at WalMart and she loves it! The songs sound exactly the same just words are changed around (obviously) and it is sung by kids. But it surprisingly doesn't annoy me like I thought it would ;)No complaints, I think any child that likes to listen to music, dance, or is up to date with pop tunes would love these albums.

When I was eight years old, my then teenaged brother used to make up sanitized versions of the lyrics to his favorite songs by Prince, Parliament, Funkadelic and the like, so that he could sing them in front of us little kids without getting into trouble. KidzBop does the same thing with today's popular music, so that I can play them for my eight year old. Truth told, however, I tend to object less to the lyrics of today's music than the atonal and off key, self-indulgent riff-a-thons that some of today's popular singers engage in. The added bonus of KidzBop is that the unknown kids who are covering the songs of popular artists, in many cases, have better singing voices than the popular artists do. Consequently, my little one can now happily listen to hits like "Baby" without making my right eye twitch!

This was my daughters favorite present! She's 6 and got it for her birthday, absolutely loves the current music and I love that there are enough changes in the lyrics to make it appropriate for a 6 year old. Definitely recommend for a child who loves music, loves to dance.
