5.0 out of 5 stars Light-hearted, delightful, up-beat, and generally happy..., September 22, 2008
This review is from: Kiki's Delivery Service: Soundtrack (Audio CD)
As expected, this soundtrack is spectacular. Most tracks have a wistful Mediterranean feel, others seem more suited to a child's cartoon (oh, wait...), but all are good.

Track List:

1. On a Clear Day... [The main theme, sounds....Italian?]
2. Departure [Equally soft and wistful, string and accordian featured.]
3. A Town with an Ocean View [Light classical sound, more upbeat.]
4. Flying Delivery Service [Like the main theme.]
5. Helping the Baker [Upbeat.]
6. Starting the Job [Sounds like a song I learned in preschool. Cute.]
7. Substitue Jiji [A non-classical piano tune. Upbeat.]
8. Jeff [A lumbering and playful tune.]
9. Very Busy Kiki [The title says it.]
10. Late for the Party [Again, the title says it.]
11. Osono's Request [Echo-y strings, a beautiful tune.]
12. Propeller Bicycle [Chaotically different than the rest.]
13. I Can't Fly! [All of 48 seconds. It sounds panicked.]
14. Heartbroken Kiki [Down-on-your-luck sounding, still beautiful.]
15. To Ursula's Cabin [Windy. Like Princess Mononoke's Kodamas, a bit.]
16. A Mysterious Painting [Soft, different from the rest by far.]
17. The Adventure of Freedom, Out of Control [Properly chaotic.]
18. The Old Man's Deck Brush [The scene when she's flying the stolen broom.]
19. Rendezvous on the Deck Brush [It reflects the happy ending.]
20. Message of Rouge [Japanese Opening by Yumi ARAI. Doo-wop ish.]
21. If I've Been Enveloped By Tenderness [Japanese Ending by Yumi ARAI.]

Keep in mind that this is the Japanese version, and so does not include Sydney Forest's "I'm Gonna Fly" which plays at the end of the English dub. That may be a minor tragedy, but if you liked the "Porco Rosso" soundtrack, or Hisaishi's music in general, this is exactly what it should be. You decide if it's worth the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Subarashii, ne. Fantastic!, August 23, 2007

I was delighted with the purchase. It arrived in a timely manner and was in perfect condition. I haven't stopped listening to it since then. It brings back such wonderful memories. "Totoro" is my favorite character, and I love the soundtrack for that movie, but the songs from "Kiki's Delivery" just fill me with a child like joy. Thank you so much. Doomo arigatioo gozaimasu.

Footnote: I have been searching for an old Japanese "soap opera" called "101 Proposal." It is about 18 years old. I, also, had one of my Japanese children's drawing books stolen from school. It was part of a set. I do not know the name write now, but I would love to replace it. I don't know what your contacts are. Doomo. Thank you.

5.0 out of 5 stars This CD is spectacular!, November 5, 2010
This review is from: Kiki's Delivery Service: Soundtrack (Audio CD)
As you grow up the movie itself can seem dull at times, but the soundtrack never wears thin. It gives you a feel of being at an Italian Cafe...or maybe France...or maybe the Mediterrainian. Either way this CD is worth the price. It arrived in a short time for me and I can't get over track 2 - "Departure", the feel of being at ease... and then the witch music... and then all is peaceful again. In short, I reccomend this CD for any Miyazaki fan or as a nice present to your now grown daughter who watched this mocie so long ago...you'll see smiles. Best of luck in your purchase.
