I found this looking for a motor for the tiny mirror ball we already had. We've got it hanging in the entrance of our home, and I thought it would be cool if it spun (powered by solar) when the sun shines on it.The mirror ball is larger than I expected (about the size of a team handball ball, slightly smaller than a mini-basketball). I wish the motor was a little slower, as it spins pretty fast. It's a little on the loud side. Also, unless the sun is shining DIRECTLY on the solar panel, it will not spin. If you're hanging the apparatus high up (which you likely are), it is difficult to adjust. This would be my main gripe. The solar panel tilts, so you can set it at an angle to catch direct sunlight, but since the whole thing tends to rotate, it will likely turn away from the sun at some point. Setting the panel completely flat works sometimes, but not always. There is an included mounting arm (thin metal rod) that sticks to a window or other smooth surface with a suction cup. I had doubts about it holding (thus crashing to the ground and shattering the mirrors), but it's been up in our home for over a month and is still holding strong.

Too cool for disco,

I bought this item for my son's room. It is wonderful. In full sunlight, it spins lighted spots around the room. It turns off in non-direct sunlight. It's about the size of a softball and easily sticks to windows.
