Fell apart underneath me,
By Angela Pace (Denver, CO) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Kikkerland EZ Fold Short Step Stool, Black (Kitchen)
I've been using this stool for about a year. I weigh about ~170 lbs; my roommate weighs ~210 lbs. As I was standing on it to put away an item, it suddenly fell apart underneath me. I'm not sure which piece gave; at the end, it was in half a dozen pieces that included individual joints and cracked legs. It was really handy until then, but now I'm just glad to have landed on my feet.

It claims to hold 300lbs, but cracked when I first time sat on it. I am slightly below the average weight for an adult male in the United States (190lbs). Bought it from a local store, replaced with a different brand, B&R Plastics 101-6B-BLACK EZ Foldz Step Stool, which is Made in USA, and that's the best.

I got the black and white step stool and it is absolutely adorable. The short one gives just the right amount of lift for me to reach the cabinet above the refrigerator. I am 5'8" tall so, for those who are shorter, you may want to consider the taller stool if you will be using it to reach refrigerator-level heights or higher.
If you step on the center of the stool (where the hinge is located) it is, of course, not as sturdy there as if you stepped on the edges, so it feels as though if you gained a pound or two after, say, a particularly delicious Thanksgiving meal, you stand the chance of caving the stool in if you put your new found heft on its center. ;) At 145 lb, I feel a little give in the center of the stool if I put all my weight there. That said, the stool is in fact sturdy overall. A time or two it has been crushed between the refrigerator door and the wall and it has collapsed into its flat position with ease and was unharmed. I kick it all over the kitchen floor when I need to use it or when I need it out of my way, and it takes a beating without complaint. It's got a whimsical look (cute li'l polka dots) that I dig and it can easily be folded up (just push the sides together) and tucked out of the way when not in use. Good li'l stool for most jobs, I'd say. ;)

I got this stool for my two-year old to use in the bathroom. It is just right for him to reach the sink and for potty training. I have a very small bathroom so I fold it up and tuck it behind the pedestal sink when not in use. And my little toddler is even getting pretty good at folding and unfolding it himself, although I still help. It seems very sturdy and it looks cute in our black and white tiled bathroom (I got the white with black dots). Now I'm going to get another one for me to use in the kitchen.
This is a cute little stool and a great space saver!

Broken, after just a couple of weeks,

This product is almost identical in design and name to another step stool that I have had for years and absolutely love. I needed another, and should have taken the trouble to get the same brand as before, but I chose this one instead because it was there at the store and I wanted it that day. It was obviously of lesser quality but I figured it would be okay, because it would only be getting light use. Only my two-year-old stands on it, and I sit on it to give my baby his bath each night. It has never had more than 140 pounds on it, and is supposed to be rated up to 300, but after just a couple of weeks it has begun cracking, along the top, near the handle--which reminds me--the handle might be convenient for carrying it, but if your hand isn't in the right position when you fold it up it will hurt you. I guess that's my own dumb fault, but as long as I'm telling you, I thought I'd throw that in. Sorry I bought it. In the future I will stick with the EZ FOLDZ I bought before, which has been awesome.

I bought the stool at Bed, Bath, and Beyond last week. I used it for the first time yesterday and while I was standing on it, it cracked into a few pieces. Thankfully I am not hurt, but what a scare. The label says it holds up to 300 pounds, I am 140 pounds and it could not hold me. Be careful!

I weight about 285lbs and bought the step stool for around the apartment. My first use was for a seat while I worked on my VW's rear brakes. It was not very stable and before I was finished with the job it twisted to the side and broke in 2 places.

Purchased this item to help pregnant clients on and off my massage table. Seemed like a great choice -- cute, easy to store, and rated to hold 300 pounds. However, during a week-long visit from my family, we used it to step over a baby gate in the hallway...and it cracked! I'm glad it broke under a family member and not a client. None of my family members approaches the weight limit, so I don't feel comfortable buying this step stool again. Hoping to find one a little sturdier.

I bought this to use in our camper..Said will support up to 300lbs, wouldn't support less than 200..
Did like storage capabilities and handy handle but that was all I liked about this. Would not purchase again..Might be good for children but don't suggest any adults use it..

Not a happy buyer. The item rarely opened flat making it unstable--and the middle cracked. I wound up throwing it away after a week of hassle--and wasting my money! DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM. There are better step stools available from Amazon. Wish I'd done more research. Lesson learned.
