Would have rated higher if not for the 1st return.

The 3rd one just came today and the hour hand is lose and falling to 6, and the minute hand is not moving the hour hand.

This is very cheaply made with plastic gears and a poorly constructed frame.

Only some of the gears move noticeably, but that makes sense. I find it to be reasonably quiet. It does stick out quite far from the wall, but I don't mind that, since I can view the workings from the side, too. I found the gears to be a matte silver rather than the white in the original product image; maybe it's a matter of lighting. A thoroughly lovable novelty. My one complaint is that the rim is not stainless as one reviewer said, nor is it nickel plated: It's ordinary polished steel, and I have already spotted a few tiny flecks of rust on the back of the rim. Iron can be such a lousy metal. Anyway, it does LOOK like it's nickel plated, but as the description of "nickel" usually implies actual nickel plating I would like amazon to update the color to "polished steel", since actual nickel plating serves the important function of fending off rust, which this clock could have a problem with if it were kept in, say, a bathroom or a garage. Also, although I bought the clock once it had fallen to $60 from $97.50, the price still seems steep given that most of the clock is plastic, and the thin gauge metal rim is made of the cheapest metal on earth. The moving mechanisms though, seem to be good quality.

I bought this as a gift for my husband who is a mechanical engineer. He loved the clock. He especially liked it because all the gears move. There are some gear clocks where the gears don't move, only the hands. The gears are made out of a cheaper material but suitable for the price of the clock. The clock looks great on the wall. It's very stylish. Also, the clock was delivered to my door in about a week and a half. It's a great clock.

This is my first product review. I felt compelled to warn others before ordering. It took 3 returns to finally get a working clock and even then -- the third one arrived damaged. The first one did not work. The second one did not work AND was bent. The third one arrived and it was in pieces - literally. I figured out how to screw the pieces back together but, honestly, it was NOT easy. I ordered this clock as a gift for my husband. He loved it. In theory, it looks great. But in practice, it is terrible. It is packaged very well and looks like it was shipped defective from the factory. There does not appear to be any quality control. I would NOT recommend this item because the quality is SO INCREDIBLY POOR. Once they fix the quality and ship a working clock, it will be great. Until then, you can get better quality for the money.

This is a beautiful clock, unfortunately it is very fragile. I am currently having my 3rd one sent back. The first was completely smashed and the clock was flattened (I blame UPS for this one). Second worked for 2 weeks (loved it) then all of a sudden it would stick at around 2:30 and not do anything else. The 3rd one just came today and the hour hand is lose and falling to 6, and the minute hand is not moving the hour hand. Lets hope number 4 makes it.

I really like this clock. It really looks nice and makes no noise when running.
I was wondering if I received the correct model when I measured it though. The description on Amazon says it's 16x5x14 and that it's nickel/white. I received one that is 14 inches in diameter and stands 4 inches off the wall and has a stainless steel rim.
Also the center of the clock was off from the center of the rim about 3/8 of an inch. The packaging was undamaged so I dont know how it happened. I had to loosen all the nuts holding the brackets and posts to the rim and recenter the mechanism to the rim.
Thats why I only gave it 3 stars but the clock looks and works great so I'll keep it.

This clock is very nice, all of the gears do turn, some are just very slow moving for the hour hand. The gears are all plastic as mention and there is no glass face but it is fun to have. Our problem comes when we try to mount the clock on the wall. When the clock is hanging (we have it supported with two nails) the front gear, and gears along the right side jamb and quit turning which stops the time. We have tried hanging it from different ways but have had no luck, however it does work fine sitting on the floor or a table. We are sending it back to try a new one.

Works well as a clock and keeps perfect time. Virtually all of the gears turn, making it an unexpected, wonderful, entrancing kinetic sculpture. The works on many similar clocks are static, and not nearly the visual delight. The packaging is extensive and very protective to ensure that it arrives unscathed.

I really want this clock as a gift for my grandson -- I have had one for several years, it works great, and he loves it. I read the reviews of people who said they had to order several to get one that works -- apparently I will be one of those. Because of already having this clock, I know which gears are supposed to have obvious movement. The one I received today only has movement of the left gears, not the right. Amazon has agreed to replace it -- I hope the next one works. I gave it 3 stars instead of 1 star because my other clock is wonderful -- everyone who sees it thinks it is amazing.

****** I received the replacement today -- the gears all work but the hour-hand is broken and loosely dangles at 6:00. I am returning #2 and not requesting #3... and downgrading stars from 3 to 1. I still love my old one, but I bought it off the wall at the Dayton Art Institute -- don't know how many they had to try before they found one that works... and they do not sell this clock anymore. There is no excuse for a product like this.

****** A week later I decided to order #3 (as I said, I really want this clock). It arrived & gears worked & hands weren't loose-- hooray! Unfortunately it loses 3 hours every 24 so I am returning it. I may order #4 from the next batch -- it's become a challenge to get one that works. I have gotten to know the owner of the UPS Store... a nice man.

****** Still wanting the clock, I ordered #4 a few days ago. It arrived today. As with #2, the hour hand dangles loosely and is non-functional. Return process is simple and nice man at UPS office now calls me by my first name. I wish there was a lower rating than "1 Star" to give this worthless pile of useless gears... and thank goodness Amazon is so great about returns.
