A perfect example of quality Greek music!, June 20, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Kikloforo Kaioploforo (Audio CD)
"Kikloforo kai Oploforo" is perhaps one the best albums that A. Protopsalti ever recorded. It was the album which gave Protopsalti her break and established her as one of the best Greek singers of modern Greece. This specific album includes some wonderful pieces of music and lyrics. All of the songs are a perfect representation of what quality Greek music is all about. The song "Kikloforo kai Oploforo" was a big hit and is still played on the radio all over Greece. It is an album with long-lasting hits that won't fade away over time. Today, Protopsalti is one of the best performers in Greece and all her concerts sell out in minutes. Her voice is cristal clear and her stage appearance very powerful. A great album to buy and a great voice to listen to over and over again.

The enternal spring of greek music, July 8, 2006
This review is from: Kikloforo Kaioploforo (Audio CD)
The record came out in 1985 when I was 13 years old. The music was composed by Stamatis Kraounakis and the lyrics were written by Lina Nikolakopoulou. These two have a unique chemistry between them and together they have produced excellent songs up to this day. I believe Lina is one of the greatest lyric writers in the modern history of greek music. If I remember correctly that was the first time they worked together.
I remember listening to the songs of this album everywhere and everyday, since the radio was airing them. And beware! Back then in Greece there was not the plethora of radio stations as today. There were only four goverment stations. All these songs are connected with fond memories as I was growing up. Many of them are aired even today. I believe this is the definiton of a classic album. Especially the song Anoixi (it means spring in greek) is such a sad, nostalgic song and everyitme I hear it I am flooded with feelings.
Alkistis is a very talented artist (she used to be a volley-ball player at the team of my neighbourhood called Panionios). I have heard her talking on the radio and her voice is so crystal clear like water that comes out of a spring. Either she sings the fast paced songs or the slower ones she does so in a perfet way.
I highly recommend this album 21 years after it was released. If you do not know this you think it came out yesterday.
For people that do not speak greek I will complete my preview with a translation of some songs.
